I am currently petless. But over the years I have had cats, one dog, a gerbil, turtles, frogs and fish.

I have two dogs. I have had four dogs altogether, goldfish and Sea Monkeys, which I still have a few packets of.

Just one dog at the moment. In the past we've had other dogs, cats, fish and some small turtles.
No pets - I live in an apartment. If I had a yard I'd probably buy a labrador or a golden retriever, lovely dogs. We had one for a long time plus another dog, Australian cattle dog. (we think) Vicious-looking when angry but actually a big sook. Labradors are better because they're just big dumbies and very sweet.

My wife still has a labrador - she loves dogs.

yes, I have my favorite pug, I can’t imagine how I lived without him before

I have always had a soft spot for labs. They're so sweet. I have absolutely never had a lab show any aggression whatsoever towards me and almost every one I ever met wanted pets so bad they'd literally look offended if you didn't pet them.

I have two cats. One is a Russian blue and the other is a snowshoe/ragdoll mix.

Yeah, they're lovely dogs mate - Harrison (Fatty) was a great dog. I miss him especially - it was nice for my son to grow up with dogs. They become part of the family.
the dogs posted here are absolutely adorable. I love all pets and animals and often send love to all the animals of the world. I would never own one though---- can't even take care of myself, I would never put myself in charge of anything else, let alone a pupster who deserves the highest form of love and attention.
I had a goldfish when I was little and a red betta fish a few years ago.

Oh man. I rode the betta fish roller coaster and it drove me nuts. I can't believe how much work I put into trying to keep a little fish alive and they still always died.

Aww, yeah I remember that cleaning the tank was hard. Sadly I forgot to do it one day and that is how my betta died.

I did the Betta thing, too. I had 3 of 'em (not at the same time). I spent a lot of money on tanks, gravel, food and little hut-like structures for them to hide in. Also water conditioners and the like. I changed their water often. Mine lived 1 to 1.5 years, or so. I read where the life expectancy of Bettas is about 2 years. Of course, you don't know how old they are when you buy them. I bought mine at PetsMart. They had them in little cups on the shelf. I always felt bad for them having to live in that little cup. 😑

I managed to save some money on some things. I went to the hardware store and bought PVC elbows and couplers for them to hide in for like a dollar or two. What seemed to do the most damage with mine was I couldn't figure out a filtration system that didn't have them constantly fighting the current. Even the slightest water movement was too much for them. Also, if you mess up even once feeding them, they get swim bladder issues and that usually kills them.
