Reincarnation. what are your views on it, do you beleive?

I don't know if reincarnation is true, but they have some very convincing stories, like this one woman who has always had a fear of swimming, or going near water, she visited a man who specialized in past life regression therapy and recalled her life back in eygpt as a young boy dragged under the water by a crocodile and drowned.

I'm just curious about this and wondering if anyone can share their views on this.

I'm going to do this exercise tonight that supposedly you can get in touch with your spiritual side and it can help you change.

I don't really consider myself spirital, but it all seems so interesting and beleivable because some of the amazing stories of people, also, you can see the similiarities between president lincoln and president john kennedy i coudln't beleive how much they had in common.

this is the website http://paranormal.about.com/od/lifeafte ... eincarnat/

Hey wishful thinking,
I just saw this thread..
and had an inkling to reply..

I am now a Christian, but in my past ,before I found the truth thru Jesus, I believed in the whole reincarnation stuff, karma, and all the Budha beliefs...

and have myself gone on past life regressions..its very convincing..but today I believe its wrong..

and against Gods Commands..

just a couple of my thoughts..thats all

Personally, no, I don't believe in reincarnation.

I mean, I can't *prove* it's not true, and I don't like to rule things out, but still...doesn't strike me the right way.

Maybe it's just my feeling that one time through this world is enough, know what I mean?

i believe that when we die we go to the otherside and review what we have learned in this life and choose to come back to learn somemore untill we have made the ultimate realization, we are one with god as gods we are the cocreaters of life seen and unseen. But Its only up to you to decided if the belief is true for you in your own heart. Peace

If there's a spiritual existance, and the whole concept of having a spirit isn't just a misinterpretation of our own biology, then reincarnation makes the most sense to me as to the scheme of things.

And not of a caste system variety where you come back as a donkey,, but that you can learn to become a better being over life times, and keep coming back until you come a long way.

I've never really thought about reincarnation....I grew up as a Roman Catholic......now don't believe in god but believe that Angels are around us and guide us......Does reincarnation imply we come as something on a higher level because we've learnt and experienced stuff? In which case could I come back as someone who's learnt from their mistakes and wishes she could have another go at it?

I dont but I sort of have this connection with a cetain period, and I dont know why. I'm talking about 17th century with ladies in fancy dresses, riding around in carriages, listening to classical music, for some reason I always imagine myself being there, its almost like I was one of those people in the past life, I dont know how to explain it but the connection is very strong. I love watching movies about that time with famous composers, and I love playing piano and all the great pieces by beethoven, bach, mozart, schubert.etc.
But at the same time I find it ridicolous because I'm a christian and I should not be into this..oh well. :stu

:dito Sometimes i get this feeling that i've lived before, like i was part of an indian tribe, my love of nature plays a part, i've got this really great enthusiasm for nature and i'd be in heaven to just go on a 3 hour hike. I'm not christian, so i keep an open mind to these types of things, but i know that one life is enough, but you would never know because you would be reborn anyways, maybe we are just reborn into better and better circumstances? If not then i guess i'm just really lucky to have been born in this generation.

Actually, science is pretty close to proving it. Most people don't keep up with the latest scientific advancements so they are completely unaware of it. There is a guy named Dr. Ian Stevenson whose research has pretty much proved it. Most people haven't heard of him because he stays out of the limelight so he won't be lumped in with all those New Age hacks. Here are a few articles if you're interested:

Hey, I am agnostic, but my parents are buddhist. I grew up with some buddhist morals, and yes I have always believed in reincarnation. It's never been a question for me. It wasn't drilled into my head or anything. My parents hardly ever talked about their religion, but just from hearing about it I picked it up. But on the other hand, I also believe in God. and yes, I am still agnostic! I believe in a lot of things!

The movie "Defending Your Life" with Albert Brooks and Meryl Streep was pretty interesting and insightful about reincarnation, for a comedy....I have sometimes felt like I have lived past lives, seem to have an empathy and acquaintance with certain places and eras that transcends merely the studying of history....

I dont think I ever saw that movie..."Defending Your Life"
always love a comedy..those two sounds like it might be good:)

as I mentioned before in this thread,
I WAS very much a believer
in Past lives..

I had gone a at least 3 past life transgressions under a hypnotic
state..
it was really amazing how the mind can trigger different scenerios
that incorperate a past life, to you fears in this life..scary also...

but I will Praise God, for pulling me out of that pit,
and bringing me into his light..

just some more Random thoughts...

I kind of do. I think it's a strong possibility. If we are made of energy and energy never dies then reincarnation makes a lot of sense. I love the movie Defending Your Life and I love the idea of doing it until you get it right. Reincarnation also makes death a little less scary cause if I've done it before, possibly quite a few times, then I'll get through it again.

I believe you can only be "you" at a particular point in time which is determined by several factors including culture, family, period in history, your genes, your brain, the environment and life experiences. If some energy somehow continues on after we die, it in no way should be considered the being we have come to know as "self."

If somehow humans are able to contain pieces of information from someone else's previous life, I believe it is most likely similar to a psychic sensing an past individual's life information rather than it actually being us having lived that life.

Since modern humans have been around for some 200,000+ years with 190,000+ years spent as hunter gatherers, it would appear that during the vast majority of our lives all we've been doing is hunting animals, picking fruit and nuts and getting eaten or bitten by unfriendly animals.

A couple of nights ago, I saw a reincarnation story on this new show called Proof Positive where a modern day police captain determined through a series of events that he had lived as a painter in New Orleans early in the 20th century. He actually found a diary and portraits made by the painter. But what puzzles me is why he thinks that individual is him, considering how different they were, with no interests in common. Wouldn't pretty much everyone else in the world have as much in common with the deceased painter as he does? Then how is that him? To me, memories about another individual's life does not make that person "you."
