I need some help thinking up some safe social exposure exercises that I can try out. By safe I mean that it won't land me in prison or deeply offend anyone that I care about.

I heard a really good one today: you stand in line at a check-out and when you go to pay, you tell the clerk that you have forgotten your wallet. I've done that by accident a few times (I actually forgot my wallet); it wasn't pleasant. :| But that's exactly why I think it would make a good practice. If I can work up the balls, I might try it. Although it might be kind of hard to repeat on a regular basis: there are only so many stores and I don't think it's something I could do in the same place more than a few times.

Why not an idle comment on the weather with the cashier? Perhaps "nice weather we're having" or "it's hot out today, isn't it?"
