carbohydrates are essential and are not unnecessary. I am talking about "good" carbohydrates btw, such as complex carbohydrates that are found in foods like brown rice and bagged beans (not canned). carbs are the main source of energy, with good fats being the secondary source of energy.

a well balanced diet should consist of vegetables (with the majority being dark green leafy vegetables and dark green non-leafy vegetables), fruits, whole grains such as brown rice, oat bran and quinoa, seeds such as ground flaxseed, good protein sources such as legumes, but if digestive problems occur with legumes then switch to dried spirulina seaweed, which is a complete protein by itself and high in protein, and water (preferably purified). all of these foods (and one beverage) together will yield the proper nutrients that the body needs: micronutrients, such as magnesium, vitamin c, fluorine, phytosterols, etc., and macronutrients such as protein, complex carbohydrates and good fats, such as omega-3 fatty acids and omega-6 fatty acids.
