My doc just put me on Buspar- given my situation where I don't want to start an SSRI yet for various reasons and don't like Benzos, he decided to give this a try. Anyone have any experience with Buspar? If so, what was your dosage. I will update this thread with my experience with Buspar- right now I've just started taking a half a 15 mg pill twice daily and will up the dose to 15 mg twice daily soon.

Yes it's quite an old drug, I was drinking constantly at the time I was on busparone so I do not know if it helped me or not, it may work for you though.

It works better with an anti-depressant than on its own, in my experience. Augmentation is where it works best. It doesn't work like a benzo at all, I found it just made the anti-depressant I'm on more effective on both my mood and anxiety. Usually I found the effect quite small, and unfortunately it made me really constipated so I stopped using it.

several psychs who specialise in anxiety say its almost useless and nowhere near as good as benzos

its heavily advertised to docs and I wouldnt have much faith in any doc who prescribed it

I heard from my doctor that it doesn't do anything, really. It's used more as a compliment med, along with anti-depressants.
As for me, I don't know if it was the AD or the buspar, but my current medication works better than any other that I've tried.
