I've been strugling with this for awhile now and idk what to do about it, I find myself zoning out almost all the time now. It seems like I can't focus at all anymore especially in school and sometimes even when people are talking to me. What do you guys do about this? I'm going to a psychiatrist to see if I can if I can get some meds for my anxiety, would that help with my dissociation or would I have to take something else?

If you cannot focus, then this sounds like depression to me. I am familiar with depression and the difficulty in remembering or focusing on things:)

From my knowledge, I thought dissociation has to do with splitting from reality. Oh, it is a psychological disorder (personality disorder):

And a poor coping mechanism, apparently (to deal with stress).

Actually...when dissociation, which is an otherwise normal thing for most people to go through to small extents, becomes disruptive, it's known as a dissociative disorder. There's an entire class of disorders considered dissociative--depersonalization disorder, dissociative identity disorder (multiple personality disorder), dissociative amnesia, dissociative fugue, and dissociative disorder not otherwise specified. None of them are personality disorders. (The "personality disorder" referred to in the old name of DID, multiple personality disorder, is unrelated to the true personality disorders.)

Sorry to nitpick, I just like to get the terms right. :blush

Yes. I get days where I feel like I'm on a fuzzy mental cloud! It's terrible. I DON'T do drugs or drink. Mine is mental. I walk around some days feeling tired and lethargic from anxiety and depression. Alot of normal days but alot of messed up days. I'm worse once i'm out in public. Ughhh
