i do - the first day is over!

it's hot, crowded, and i can never find a decent place to hang out between classes. :(

whenever i see those group study rooms in the libraries sitting there all empty i'm tempted to just take one over. being around people all day just stresses me out.

like the other day i was at PCL and had to listen to two people kissing behind me. UGH!!

and today i thought i remembered where a building was but got it wrong, and wound up walking an extra 10 minutes in the blazing sun and getting to class late.

i can't wait for the winter.

i'm torn between thinking this is the wrong university for me because it has so many people, and thinking it's right because then i can be more anonymous. :stu

omg yay~_~ for a minute there i thought i was probably the only one in the whole school with shyness >w< what year are you?:D

Edit: i forgot to mention i thought the same thing too!>w< at first i liked it because you could blend in without being known... but two years of no friends gets kind of draining after a while : <

i'm third year also, more or less.

yeah, there are a lot of extroverts here. when i was in high school, i dreamed of going to some small college somewhere far away, but the idea of those small class sizes and one-on-one time with professors scared me off. i like the big classes where you can be anonymous, but not where they're so crowded you actually have to sit next to somebody!

aw, no friends yet? i haven't tried to get to know anyone either, but i'm also older. when i was younger i could only really meet people in art classes - you get to hang out with the same people for 8 hours a week, so you can get to know them more. but SA can still get in the way - i had mixed success with it.

sorry i'm not your age, but it's nice to know there's someone else from here out there, somewhere. :)

holy moly pancake, there's more of us:boogie this makes me kind of happy :)
yeah, me too - it makes the campus seem a bit nicer. :)

so, what is everyone's favorite parts of UT?

mine are:
-the architecture library - if you can get a table in a corner, those are pretty nice
-the psychology section at PCL - i used to love browsing through those books
-the campus at night in winter - it's so dark and deserted
-the gyros at the dobie food court are really good
-the ransom center has good exhibits - apparently one on poe starting this week
-the new buildings on the north side of campus - really nice looking, even the parking garage!
-the north campus neighborhood is nice and quiet
-giant classes with 200 people in them :)

edit: um, i'm gonna have to take that back about the gyros - i had one today and it wasn't as good as i remembered.

also
-the turtle pond - it's kind of meditative to watch them swimming around in the water there, and there's a little waterfall near by.
-the architecture library stacks - there are some really quiet / deserted study carrels there. it feels like you're in a submarine almost, with these weird metal floors and fixtures. but at least it's quiet!

hey, glad you liked it! :D i've been loving the stacks part lately - you can hear the people at the front desk so it's not totally isolated. the main room is nice when there aren't too many people - i used to go there on weekends to study when i had roommates.

i don't think i ever even saw the a/v library. i've tried the fine arts library a few times but the study spaces seem to be either too open or too isolated, for me, anyway.

yeah, the SEA building is really nice. i haven't seen the hidden courtyard yet though.
