Are there any Mac users out there? I am thinking of getting an Apple iBook. It will be my first laptop.

I have an iBook G4...It's a pretty solid computer. I would recommend the Powerbook if you have to extra cash.

R34 - I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as a Mac virus. Nobody I know with a mac has ever had one. My PC is loaded with spyware and virus'. I just gave up on it.

At my university I've been using macs. But now Its mandatory for all new graphic design students to buy an Apple Powerbook. :fall The labtop they want us to buy is about $2,000 plus we have to buy the programs like Adobe cs2 :fall :fall I just hope to find a good deal before the fall classes start.

The Combo Drive Powerbook is cheaper, but you can't burn DVD's. You can always buy an external DVD burner later.

Actually, no...I changed my mind. I'm going to buy a video game instead. It's cheaper.

I was really close to buying that mac... I've been planning it for a few weeks now. Good thing I didn't order it. :)

Other then virus protection why do all of you Mac lovers prefer Macs over PCs.
I prefer it for several reasons, but my first real computer experience was on a mac (when taking graphic design in college), so it's what I'm most familiar with. That's why I first bought a mac. I continue to buy macs partly for that same reason (familiarity...I'm totally comfortable using a mac) but also because, I've been pretty happy with the performance of the macs I've owned...usually. For the most part everything works the way it's supposed to. The one issue I had previously with my older macs, would be that they would crash a little too often, BUT ever since OS X came out, I've been even MORE impressed. The system is MUCH more stable than previously. I've had this mac almost a year now, and MAN, this is one stable operating system!. And of course, the lack viruses, spyware, etc...is a big plus. I'm definitely a loyal mac user...and I can pretty much guarantee my next computer will be a mac. I just like the way they work :)

good bang for the buck factor
That may be the case where you live but where I live Macs usually cost twice as much for the same processor, hardrive ,ram ,etc. That might be becuase maybe macs are built and programmed more thorough or something like that or maybe I just don't know what the hell I'm talking about.
