Does anyone know about the so called borna virus that infects the human brain? They say it is a major cause of depression and other mood disorders. They said the majority of depressed individuals lack the antibody for the virus. It can cause other emotional problems such as anxiety, lack of concentration, poor memory and other psychiatric problems.

Amantadine is the drug used to eliminate the virus. Doctors have used it to cure their patients. The drug doesn't have a patent anymore so the drug companies stopped their research on the borna virus phenomenon.

I'm just wondering if anyone has ever been on Amantadine or heard of the virus.

Very interesting indeed. It seems they did away with the research for no apparent reason at all, perhaps because if this were true, a lot of medications by drug companies could be rendered useless, if was indeed what most patients had. Like one big money pot conspiracy.

I don't usually believe in conspiracies but as far as medical science goes, you can never be too sure of anything lol.

Yea just imagine the amount of money the drug companies would lose if they somehow found a cure to depression. Antidepressants make billions in profit for these companies. This sounds far-fetched but it wouldn't be unreasonable for the drug companies to be purposely infecting people with the virus. Lol talk about conspiracy theory.

Who knows, who knows.

A lot of people say there are more people with mental illness these days but there are two ways of looking at that:

1. People are more aware and have access to help these days so more people are coming forward for help.

2. There is indeed an epidemic growing with mental illness that can be contributed by the life style we live and or the trash that's put in our food, air, water etc. Deliberate? who knows.

Certainly if you drug a nation up enough, you could probably as a government control that society more - in the sense that people are sedated and easily manipulated. But this is crazy talk and speculation, but I can't help but think of the film Equilibrium. lol

Makes you wonder though. Just imagine, a perfect utopia made by drugging everyone.

I remember this being on the news some years ago, but it seems like almost no-one knows much about it.

my cat was lethargic and clumsy when jumping around the time I fell into my last depression. I feel a bit hypochondrical when considering BVD/'borna virus' but at the same time would be interested in trialing amantadine.

So uh whats the deal with this virus? Is it real? Does Amantadine work?
