Meeting in St. Louis

Hi. This is my first time on this site so I'm not sure exactly what I'm doing. I was curious about the therapy sessions on Fridays in St. Louis. I need help with social anxiety and this is the closest support group for me. Can anyone tell me more about this or give me any other help/encouragement? Thanks!

Trying to keep things fairly uncomplicated.... here goes.

Hmm... if you cannot find any local support groups, go to your library and borrow one book on social anxiety. It can help your learn a little about where SA comes from and identify what (your) automatic negative thoughts are.

A good audio series, maybe the most effective therapy currently available, is from Dr. Richards.

I hope this helps!

Group

This group now meets on Tuesdays at 11AM. However, I attended last week and felt as though it was not well put together. It is run by a nice lady, but she is inexperienced unfortunately. Most of the clients are older (over 60) and some do not seem to have SA. I am a counseling student in my internship year and would like to find a group in St. Louis. I would be up for getting a group together if other people are interested. Let me know!
Thanks!

I am looking for a group, its one of the only things I have never tried to help with my SA. I was thinking being in a group setting and being coerced into talking back and forth with complete strangers might do me some good knowing they feel the exact same way? However if the one locally as mentioned is with mostly people well out of my generation range, and isn't super organized I defaintly would want to avoid it. If anyone knows of anything well received, or is thinking about starting something let me know!

SAS group in STL

i did attend one of the meetings at the Self Help Ctr., in 2008 & as previously mentioned, it was well intentioned, but unorganized. i as much as anyone would greatly appreciate a would possibly benefit from a group for anyone suffering or dealing with: SA & other social impairments. i have searched in vain for many years for any related groups, but have found few, if any that address SA.

Just posting here to say that I was hoping to try to start an informal group in St. Louis (I'm no doctor/therapist, just a shy, lonely person looking for other shy, lonely people). If anyone's interested, pm me if possible.
