I feel like my true self

I never wanted to be a people pleaser and that's definitely not who I am but when I was younger sometimes I'd just let bad stuff happen to me figuring its not a big deal. Now I speak my mind when I think I was wrongly accused of something or if I get intrusive questions. I think I know when to shrug it off and I don't let things bother me that much generally, not worth fighting a battle you aren't going to win, but with authority figures like a boss or a teacher, if I think there is a punishment that wasn't necessarily deserved or confusion that puts me in a bad spot, I calmly but firmly explain why I think it wasn't right and I do whatever I can to put myself in a better place. Maybe I didn't do it for a long time out of apathy, but it makes me feel so powerful

It does feel good to stand up for yourself and not let others walk all over you. I guess the difficulty is being able to harness and anger you have to overcome anxiety preventing you from standing up for yourself while at the same time remaining calm, as people are more receptive when you are calm and assertive.
