Actually, before I do, does anyone have input on this claim that it really does make you more socially relaxed?

i used to love this stuff but i drank it yesterday, only 1 cup, and felt like i was on speed or something...I thought maybe it was the caffeine mixing with my meds but then I remembered some people saying yerba mate didn't mix well w/ SSRIs.

otherwise, without being on SSRIs (assuming that's the problem now), it does a great job keeping me feeling awake, and focused, and not the the overfocused type of awake, and no restlessness like w/ caffeine too; i get mental fatigue/fog w/ caffeine; caffeine doesn't really help me concentrate either,

taste is a little too bitter, might be good idea to mix it with something sweet

I love yerba mate, especially the grapefruit ginger sparkling flavor. I've also had the passionfruit and peach flavor. Best drink

No. It should taste smokey like an ash tray. Mine does anyway.

Yeah. That's kind of the basic flavor (and smell) it tends to have. I think different brands (and different types within the same brand) can vary a bit but not too much unless they have some kind of added flavor.

The taste definitely isn't something everyone is going to love right off the bat but you get used to it. If you put milk and sweetener in it, it tastes almost like coffee. Sometimes I have to remind myself I'm not drinking coffee.

Only if it's smoked.

See unsmoked yerba mate.

Drinking some right now. I love the stuff, but only in moderation, while switching between various teas, coffees, and other drinks. Normally only drink a few cups once a month or every few weeks, reusing the tea flakes over and over again until the green color dilutes and the flavor disappears.

That's why I switch it up. Sure, caffeine is caffeine, right? Shouldn't make a difference, but I find it does, and letting my tolerance build up drinking the same beverage over and over is wasteful, if you ask me, when you can simply switch from tea, then to coffee, then the yerba mate. Each time the switch occurs tolerance to that specific drink is low and enjoyed at fuller benefit. No science to back this up, they are only my personal feelings and experiences.

You don't need the gourd. Just use a coffeemaker. The paper filter filters out the dust and makes a really smooth brew. I drink a pot of this stuff every day made with my good old Mr Coffee.

Yerba mate with Xanax is a great combination. It fights the drowsiness coming from Xanax and leaves a calm feeling.
