Why No Like Feature But Friends?

I don't understand why there isn't a feature to Like posts.
From my understanding, the reason is that we don't want people to get upset about having noone like their posts.

Yet there's a friend/profile feature where users can see other users have 300 friends and lots of active private discussions?

Makes no sense. Please bring a Like Post feature!

The world is quiet here.

Won't the most popular people just get the most likes anyway? Then people can feel bad they don't have likes. A group always forms to abuse the like button eventually anyway.

My greatest point is my persistence.

It's probably due to, well, namely anxiety. Kageri said it best. On other forums like features can be fun, but I think it's most appropriate here not to have it.

people can feel bad that no one mentions them/quotes their posts so with that logic might aswell get rid of those too

Why should there be a 'like' feature?

I don't think its a good idea, everything would just be about how many likes you could get or how popular you are. A lot of people would just feel bad about themselves.

Worst idea ever.

UNLESS the top 5 most liked posters every month get automatic perma ban

Yes, so our relative popularity can be made perfectly clear to us in the refuge we go to when we're frustrated with insecurities and social anxieties, and lonely, seek comfort among others like us. What a perfectly horrid idea.

We are the drop, the wave, and the tide.

Personally I turn those off because I don't want to know and people don't know how many notifications other people get unless they are talking about it.

How often do most people go see how many friends someone has? I only look at a profile when I'm curious about something and then I never notice the friends someone has. It's not thrown out there on every post. You have to draw a line somewhere between what features are worth it and what ones are mostly just trouble.

My greatest point is my persistence.

the friends feature is not a great example but complaints about profiles views, quotes and whatnot do come up often.

I see the like feature used in other forums, much less friendly than this one and I don't think it would cause trouble at all.
If anything it encourages better posts, and gives people nothing but positive feedback.

Can't have people just liking posts they like now that would be outrageous .
It would be anarchy before long

. WTF is wrong with me

You want likes, go to facebook.
People come to this site because it is NOT like facebook.
If there was a like button here, where would be the difference?
I see enough people on here talking about their sex life like they are on "sex and the city", that's already too much.
Lastly I saw a post of somebody who was pretty pissed off how "this site turned out".
Slowly I begin to understand him/her

emotions are fleeting and often confusing, how am i supposed to know i like something unless i get some kind of feedback through clicking a button and seeing the number of likes change?

sometimes i think that all my feelings are just in my head

my guess is that the people who make high quality posts often will get the most likes? sometimes i see a really awesome post and i really want to give the poster props but it seems kind of stupid to just quote it and go "great post man" so then i just leave it alone and they never do find out how much i secretly love them. it's tragic really (っ╥╯﹏╰╥c)

i just use the friends feature as a "like" feature lol. like whenever i see a post i like i start taking note of that user and if i'm consistently liking what they say then i usually end up adding them to my friends list. and idk this whole internet "friending" thing seems kind of disingenuous anyway - like how many of us are actually friends with everyone on our list? i've never even talked to some of them... but yea all these features, they are all just different ways to show appreciation. also i forgot what point i was trying to make but here, have an emoticon: ─=≡Σ(((*つ•̀ω•́)つ

Guilty of being facebook brainwashed and looking for the like button. It's just

I am the son and the heir of a shyness that is criminally vulgar. I am the son and heir of nothing in particular.

You shut your mouth. How can you say I go about things the wrong way? I am human and I need to be loved, just like everybody else does.

I'm with you.

It's not like I can get any more addicted to SAS if there was a like feature.

Plus, I'm sure the same personalities that regularly post still will post the same things they do, regardless of likes.

But, just like the lack of an account delete option, a lot of features on this forum are odd compared to many other social media platforms.

Lots of other forums have it. As has been said on here, it builds positive feedback when you get Likes. Even one goes a long way. It also encourages good posts to be written.

Has a mod posted in this thread yet?
