Choosing a therapist

Is social anxiety a recognized specialty for therapists? I have looked at the therapists within my provider network and none list social anxiety as an area of expertise. However, some list anxiety by itself. Are the therapists who list anxiety but not social anxiety worth considering?

There are people who take a special interest in particular illnesses, but I don't necessarily think they get extra training for it.

Personally, I've only ever met one person a psychiatrist who offered both meds and therapy.. He didn't take insurance though.

If I were you, knowing what I know now, I'd probably look for a therapist that does CBT for social anxiety. After that, I'd probably go with interpersonal.
