So I mistakenly asked a woman how her pregnancy was coming along

I was waiting at the checkout line at the grocery store and the woman in front of me was staring at me for some reason. So I blurted out the first thing that came to my mind and asked how far she was into her pregnancy. It turns out she wasn't pregnant at all. The worst part is that there was an awkward silence for the next 30 seconds while we waited. Luckily the line moved fast enough.

This has never happened to me before. I am usually a really good judge of things like this. She had a very slender face and skinny arms. It is very odd that someone such a slim overall build had a bulging buddha belly like that. My mouth seems to always land me in these precarious situations.

She was staring at me and I had to say something to break the silence. I never made this mistake before. If she's wasn't pregnant, she was smuggling a helmet under there.

Best piece of advice when it comes to assuming if a woman is preggo: unless you physically see the baby popping out, don't.

The future is here, and it's about a hundred feet above the Arby's.

My life is so awkward and random. I feel like a character from a sitcom that unlucky things always happen to.

Usually I tend to keep my mouth shut but it was one of those times where you feel compelled to say something because someone is staring at you.

I don't think it was a beer belly. It appeared too bulging to be that. It was weird. I am pretty sure she was pregnant thinking back. Perhaps she was just subtly joking.

You don't have to say something just because someone is staring at you. People stare at me and I don't say anything.

I'm the exact same way. I'm like George Costanza, only less funny.

Oooooo. Tough luck.

Yeah, you should have blurted something else, but I guess it was reasonable. XD You were nervous from her staring and wanted to break the silence.

Something like this has happened to me. =/ My mom asked if I was pregnant while referencing my stomach. In fact, I had LOST weight (and was pretty thin at that point) and was just wearing an unflattering shirt. Good times.............not.

I guess just be lucky she didn't lash out on you .

It would have been almost better. She just said that she wasn't pregnant and turned her back on me.

So if someone is point blank range and staring at you intently for some reason you wouldn't say something to break the ice?

I feel like Tim from the HBO show Life and Times of Tim. You should youtube it, it's hilariously awkward and very similar to how my life is.

That must of been so embarrassing, although it was understanding why you would of mistaken her for being pregnant. At least you got away before she could respond, lol.

"The darkness is death - we can speak, but we are not heard. We can scream but they turn their backs. We can run, but we cannot catch them. It is the dream where arms and legs won't work the way they should, and the air is too thick to breathe. Loved ones walk a mile ahead, forgetting to stop as we fall behind. This is the reality of the darkness. We are buried alive inside ourselves."-Dana-Christene Umanetz

Yeah. I was in an elevator and couldn't get out until it stopped. Just stared straight ahead and waited for the door to open. LOL

Oh man that would have sucked. What if the elevator got stuck and it was just you and her in there waiting for an hour. Sounds like something that would happen to me considering my luck.
