"give everyone else a chance to talk"

What do people tell you regarding your SA that ticks you off? For example, I hate when people say "she never talks" or "just say something!"

I get, "You're SOOO quiet.....soft spoken...laidback". I also get the sarcastic comments like "Oh here comes the trouble maker!!!"

Another one: "She's not much of a talker."

Society places so much pressure on people to be popular, which means loud, witty and talkative. I can't stand people like this. They are so annoying!!!! Why is it so important to talk soooo much? Most people who talk alot don't say anything really thought provoking or smart, so screw them, I say!!! LOL

"This is the first time I've ever heard you speak." It's annoying because they know it's not true.

"If you ain't got nothing good to say, say nothing." That is my motto and I stand by it. If I feel I have something positive to say about someone or something then I will let my voice be heard. 80% of the time I have nothing good to say about the world so I keep my mouth shut. Its as simple as that.

As a kid, my teachers would like quiet the entire room down when I was about to speak, like it was a monumental moment or something. It made me stop participating as much in class. Not really something someone said, but more what they did.

But for now I get 'You're so quiet?', 'Don't be too quiet, we'll forget you're here.', 'What's wrong? You don't talk.', 'Put yourself out there, that's all you have to do.', and 'Go out on your own more. I bet you'd get a lot of people talking to you, then.'

Yeah, I've been called a ghost, since I am not seen nor heard. One time I was sitting RIGHT across the table from a co-worker, eating my lunch, and later I mentioned something about being in the room with her and she said she didn't even notice me sitting in front of her in the lunchroom! Dang...seriously?!! Guess I do have special powers of invisibility!

Person 1: "You are sooo quiet, why?"
Person 2 "Yeah, you are...ahhh I know 'we' need to get you outta yourself."
Me: *Nervous laugh* lol

Person 1 "Why don't you talk?
Person 2 "Yeah? Just say something. First thing off the top of your head."

I didn't get this said to me, but once when i was going to leave this training place, everyone signed a card for me, and one girl signed it, showed me her bit and giggled. It was saracastic. Coz I was quiet, she put down "Goodbye chatterbox." Its like she couldn't resist. Though it would've been nice if she had just said "Goodbye and Good Luck"

I dislike the patronizing comments many people make and advice such as "you'll grow out of it, just like [some person they knew] did". I would receive frequent comments in the past.

I rarely attract comments these days, but the worst occurs when someone repeats what I said, or makes a comment, in a babyish tone of voice, not taking me seriously as an adult, and behaving as though I were born yesterday. I have difficulty detecting when being teased and this encourages them.

I hate it when people tell me to speak louder. "What... WHAT?! LOUDER!" especially since they take this pissed off tone with me >
