car buying is too complicated

I just want a car. Too overwhelming trying to understand everything. Buying new/used, leasing, mileage, negotiation tactics, private buying, features, insurance types and costs, maintenance, different models, steps to buying a car...etc etc

I just want a car. My brain is shutting down because there's too much information to keep track of.

Same, I just need something to drive and no payments. Wish I could just say hear is 2 grand and everything would be taken care of...insurance, tags, title, etc.

Buy car, have former owner sign title and give it to you, take title to DMV along with a few forms of ID, get title transferred and purchase plates, put registration card they give you in your glovebox and plates or temporary plates on car, go to an insurance provider with your vehicle info and ID, sign up and pay for insurance, put insurance card in glovebox along with registration. Can be done in an afternoon and then you're good to go.

Can you legally drive the purchased car to the dmv?

It's a pain, for sure. But once it's done, it's done for a good long while (hopefully.)

I'd say it's probably easier if you don't want brand new and you actually have the money and you can afford to be wrong. Like if you found a seemingly great deal for $5k and you actually have $10k laying around and it wouldn't absolutely ruin you to lose the $5k, it would be a lot easier to take the leap.

But when you HAVE TO BE right and being wrong is gonna kill you, that's hard.

It's weird how random threads get ressurected after more than 4 years of dormancy. And this one originally only had 2 posts!

What did you end up buying 4 years ago in 2016 when the world was completely and totally 100% different?

Oh to go back to 2016...

It was bumped by Kevin, who has recently been contemplating the purchase of (his first?) car.

Ha I know I just think its funny to bring a 4-year old thread with 2 posts back to life. How would you even know such a thread existed? But then again I have a hair trigger when it comes to starting new threads and many of mine are probably dupes that are superfluous.

You can do exactly that these days - its all online and they'll even drive the car right to your house for you. You don't even have to pick it up. Have you tried CarMax yet?

You'd have to check your state's law. I think some may give you a window to do that after purchase.

When you buy one from a dealership they can take care of the plates and registration for you at the time of purchase. Buying from an individual you'll have to go to the DMV yourself. If you knew for sure you were buying the car you could get the VIN number ahead of time and get the insurance taken care of beforehand.

If you really wanted to make sure you did everything by the book take care of the insurance first, then get the title and go do the DMV stuff, then come back and pick up the car with everything 100% legal. If you have someone patient to run you around a little to get it all done.

Finding.. seeking... ahh.. a Job!

easiest thing evva!!

well, hundredz yearz ago... stone age..? since all developments.. let's cite Goog, Jeeves & Wooster?

old days of monochrome newpapers, advertising random jobbies..

finding takes NO TIME! ▀▀ling!! √ lands in ya lap! BUT: the hurdles, barricades cannot be overcome

anything, any one, type of agent(Orange?) Napalm? can get / stand in ya way!
permanently. any means beyond, to stop, the function. the easiest job ever, to ensure anyone gets nothing. monster. all the.. WEEEEEE!! & USSSS!! GLAMM!! we accept any orientation, age, ethnics.. an utter lie. they all paid the worldwide top ranking salary to prevent. YOU CAN'T CUZZZ WEEEE t'ink U CAN'T like some mantrap? as a car salesman? bitz & bobz... homes
any agent where the function being allowing a meeting between seller/buyer.. cars, jobbies. gets meaner & meaner. labelled, tagged lifelong from day one. HIM! not him. don't evva let him into the supermarket! NO jobby 4 Him! cuz that's hiz name..we don't know wot hizz name is, who heee izz or duzz orr knows or duzz WEEE all just hate himmm weeee dunno why weee all, hate him so muchchcch we just do. one thing evva went wrong, one day? since birth or death or earlier. the wind took a hair? all's over. verdict happened.. long b4 birth

u been unsuccessful ONN THIS Occasion!! a nominated, automated, filtered mailbox.
all the seething, overflowing, growing cancerous mailbox defined by string. every occasion.

wha' difference between a wanted person or not wanted? want kill orrr Have him?

how is the rancid label gained? 1 person, or billionz deeply compounded

despite determination. any pool of snobby bury deep in punishment

as cars, entertaining. only 5 so far. only oldest 2ndhand gained from ex.. 1990s lasted the longest til dead. then next exact maker, similar experience coping with shoddy, faults, rewarding. cost of it. equation: buy fresh from factory or oldest? Dad: earn money! #.1 never spend what cannot afford. get cheap.

Does seem like a real hassle. So easy to get a ticket. Ugh. But not having a car is a huge pain too. Going anywhere becomes an ordeal.

It's only as complicated as much as, how great of a deal you care to get for it.

If you have the money and do not care much about overpaying by a bit, it's pretty much just 1 2 and 3, once you figure out what car you want. Insurance shopping is probably the most hassling part, as its probably something you pay the most consistently for, since a good deal vs a not-so-good deal can be a huge difference. Especially if you only have one car.

The truth is strictly what the ones in power perceives it to be.

Enjoy any good things, even the little and menial ones, as you will never know what impending distresses could descend upon you in a moment.

You can buy a used car on ebay, I did that once and it worked out well. Lots of other websites too. That way there's no pressure and you can look up the fair value.

You have a set period of time, I think it's 10 days in California, to transfer the registration (which usually isn't expensive, was just a $15 transfer fee for me). You may be able to do it all online. If it's a used car, you're not likely to need new plates. And there's no worry about driving it before registering it, because it's perfectly legal to borrow any car with the owner's permission... the former owner has given you permission.
