Political Edition: Type What You're Thinking

I'd rather not flood this section with threads about the smaller political thoughts and opinions I have on a daily basis, and I'd also rather not flood the other "Type what you're thinking" thread with posts that would be considered more suitable for this section.

The GOP's new healthcare plan has a provision that exempts Senators, members of Congress, and their staff from having to be covered under their healthcare plan. I wonder if it's because they know it's terrible...hmm.

Any criticism of Islam and its followers is islamophobia and thus dismissed forever as evil.

Oh and while we are at it, all cultures are equal and respectable and if you say otherwise, you're [insert favoured dismissive slur]

You might as well have poured gasoline over this thread and handed [insert username of choice] the match.

If only it was just [potential user] and not the seemingly (inter)national consensus.

I'm hoping it doesn't turn into a thread of raging debates, I just think this section (actually every section of the site) can sometimes get saturated with threads that more qualify as a comment on one of the mega threads, and the typical S&C comment probably wouldn't be wanted or suitable on the other 'thought' threads in the General sections, imo.

Betsy Devos claims that 90% of girls who get raped in college and take it to court are just girls who regret hooking up with a guy........ Who's Betsy Devos? The women who Trump appointed as Secretary of Education.

I'm wondering why ideology is so resistant to facts and truth. We will deny reality if it doesn't meet our expectations.

You are correct, I'm not employed at the moment. But I also don't roleplay as a communist revolutionary.

Everyone always says America is super right-wing (hierarchical), but it's just the politicians. At least in Northern Virginia, it's the people too. Took me too long to realize this.

Also, thinking this

Polls that show how right-wing American's feel about left-wing policies (but don't reveal that they are policies held by the left) result in showing that the majority of Americans are actually left-wing in regards to policy approval. Might be why Bernie Sanders is the most popular politician in America.

Polls show about half of Americans are willing to save capitalism by letting the state offer more concessions (supporting single-payer etc). And I think most people who support these things do so because it is in their own best interest, not necessarily because they want to live in an egalitarian society.

When I worked the phones here in NoVA for Sanders, only like 35% of voters we called responded favorably to Sanders' modest social democratic proposals. That's about the same % of the people that voted for him here. And Sanders isn't even that left-wing historically beyond how he labels himself.

A lot of people that did end up supporting Sanders where I live were middle-class over-educated folks who wanted their tickets to the professional class (college) to be free. Not exactly a group you'd consider leftist. It all felt very elitist at the end of the day.

That's a surprising approval north VA imo.

Forgot to clarify, not total voting population, but of those we had in our database as likely to vote in the Sanders v. Clinton primary.

I actually thought about making this thread before though for random thoughts I had a few times, but haven't had any lately.

How much treason can the repugnants get away with? They sent all the jobs to communist china just to get richer. Now they let russia hack all our computers and elections. When will the sheeple realize the rich are trickling urine down on them?

Many Republicans in congress are just as hawkish as you about Russia....

One benefit of having Trump in the white house is the looming cold war at the end of Obama's term is temporarily gone. After we interfered in Ukraine and tried to push NATO into Ukraine, Russia then annexed Crimea, Obama's "russian reset" policy turned 180 degrees around and we went into numerous cyberwars and proxy wars with Russia.
