What happens when you let former Goldman Sachs executives write our new Tax Reform plan:

Income less than $25,000/year = $40 tax cut per year

Income over $3.4 million/year = $1 million tax cut per year

Fox meet hen-house.

The percentages are what's important here... (I'm not going to get a calculator out for this btw)

-Working class gets like a .2% income increase after taxes.

-The millionaires get like a 20% income increase after taxes.

Am I living in a Kafka novel right now...?

Anyway, 'National Deficit' say goodbye to your friend 'Budget Surplus' because you won't be crossing paths with him for a LONG time.

Age checks to be introduced on porn websites in UK

Porn site users will have to provide details from a credit card

The government is also expected to announce plans to appoint a regulator to police the sex websites.
Personally I think they need a Ministry of Porn.

I'm thoroughly amused by how this year I'm being called a racist islamophobe while last year I was a communist SJW. I'm a liberal, always have been but there's only so much nonsense I can handle from outright stupidity and fear politics.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Oh lol, yeh a Ministry of Porn would be hilarious. And not even particularly unlikely. Always good to have a right wing government that believes in laissez faire economics only intervening where the market has definitively failed.

And the market has failed, if porn sites aren't able to conclusively identify what kind of filth each individual is into and sent that list to the government. If that isn't a market failure, I don't know what is.

Wonder what makes for a filthier list for reading... the history of people's credit card porn videos or the one for their Tesco clubcard purchases Any overlap between the two should be investigated by the Minister of Porn, too.

I'll never understand why people pay for porn when it's free.

It's not for paying for it, the credit card details will be required for age verification purposes.

I think everyone is guilty of this, it is only a matter of what degree. Our psychology is like taut piano strings... it cannot handle sudden forceful adjustment without risk of breaking. And with the amount of information there is to take in each moment of each day, it is simply necessary to have filters in place in order to function. Critical thinking can control this to some extent, but only to a point.

My political thoughts of the day: I really, really hate the national news coverage on the major TV networks. Faux news is known for it's ridiculousness, but the liberal news outlets are showing their true colors now that Trump is in office. Their choice of emphasis and omission, while not outright lying, basically puts them on the level of gossipy highschoolers. I feel embarrassed watching the news, but my parents eat it up despite being thoughtful and highly educated people. Really gives me pause.

Good metaphor regarding our psychology. Also, I'm constantly amazed that my own parents are strong Conservatives and almost the only source of news they take in is Fox News, I'm amazed because they are both pretty intelligent people. Needless to say Thanksgiving visits are frustrating as a mother F. In their defense they are both overly busy people and don't have much time to be active in politics, but still, those Thanksgiving visits though...

Ironically, the fact that my own state's Senator lacks almost all integrity actually helped the fight against the AHCA (Trumpcare) passing, he didn't provide a vote because he wanted an even more severe health bill. So, I guess...thanks for being a jerk Mike Lee...?

Isn't it amazing how this is working out? I essentially helped get Trump elected after the media shafted Bernie, so that he would make a complete fool of himself and his party while this happened. It's been a little scary, but so far so good.

I stumbled across an article recently that explained how the US is more like an oligarchy than a democracy. Essentially the article claimed there are few rich people at the top who greatly influence policy and votes. Much outrage was expressed over the idea, and there were comments about what it would take to return the US to a democracy.

Now, I'm starting to realize that liberal democracy might just be a fundamentally flawed form of government. Simply put, ordinary people are stupid and bad at making decisions regarding governance. I floated the idea that it is a good thing that the US is effectively an oligarchy and that policies would be far worse if it weren't for smart elite people at the top telling idiotic masses how they should vote.

Why do they make you create a custom signature to finish setting up?

MSNBC is the Chinese ‘drip-torture’ of the Russia coverage. Lawrence O’Donell sometime talks about interesting news, but if I had to listen to Rachel Maddow for longer than 30 minutes I’d tell her I was the one who colluded with Russia just to get her to stop talking about Russia.
