....I think there are too many Democrats overestimating
Trumps lack of popularity. If anything I believe Trumps victory at the polls showed how hopelessly biased
the media is.
The Mass Media are so biased that they sold the nation the bogus
idea that Trump was unpopular, that nobody liked him...that there was no way he could win ...and yet that was precisely what happened !
There are entire youtube videos showing just how many media personalities were left speechless when Trump won.
I wish there was another conservative network besides Fox. I can think of 3 'left leaning' networks at the top of my head...CNN, ABC and NBC...if that was all I watched I would have been fooled too.
I was very surprised at how the religious right in this country has supported him no matter what, and I wasn't expecting their numbers to be enough to swing certain states in 2016.
I do think that people expected Hillary to win by a large margin, even in Ohio. I know 4 people who voted for Jill Stein because they hated Hillary, and didn't want to not vote. And even then, we all knew that our county was going to vote Republican regardless of who it was, and a lot of them were anti-Hillary votes too. I do wonder how many anti-Hillary voters will either not vote in 2020, vote for Trump, or change to #NeverTrump voters when she isn't in the race.
The one aspect the media did cover, but didn't praise Trump for was his strategy of holding so many big rallies. Hillary wasn't out there as much, and the media always talked up her big dollar dinners with donors.
As for how the 2020 election will go, I don't know. There are 18 Democratic candidates and they are still losing in the amount of media coverage they are getting compared to the 1 Republican candidate. I hope that Biden doesn't get in the race. I would expect him to win, but there is a large number of people who won't vote for him. And there will be a lot of negative ads from the far left and the right. Whereas, I have a hard time listing any political reason a conservative wouldn't want Trump re-elected. Mayor Pete talks a good game, but I don't want to have to deal with the anti-gay whiners for 4 years. Bernie has the organization and money, but needs to gain the endorsements from the other candidates, and to also deal with the older Democrats who see him as an outsider.
The one guy who could have easily won and stood up to Trump was sadly the first one to drop out of the race.
