We keep our hands clean; we keep our hands away from our face.
We have hand sanitizer and wipes. I could even make my own hand sanitizer if I had the ingredients.
Trump is going about daily life; fear about the virus isn't supposed to keep us from at least doing things. Panic has already gotten us into trouble.
If there's a positive test that occurs near us... you need tests to be available first. British Columbia has tested 2000 people so far and we have 32 confirmed cases. As of March 6, the US had only tested roughly 1900 people. How is that possible?
The US has 330 million people. Until there's enough tests for everyone, fear is understandable. For you and me, not fear for ourselves either, but fear for our older loved ones who are at an extreme risk from this virus. If the time comes where I may have been exposed, you're damn rights I'm putting my life on hold for a couple weeks because I will not risk passing it on to my dad, who has respiratory issues already. We can do everything in our power to protect ourselves, but there are plenty of stupid people out there who don't think this is serious at all and we risk exposure from them.
A leader who says anyone who wants a test can get a test, when that is absolutely not the case, causes panic. A leader who when there were 15 cases said there would be zero soon and that the virus is contained, and a week later there are over 700 confirmed cases, causes panic. A leader who stands at the CDC and says that his uncle is a super genius and that he told his VP to not be nice to the governor of the worst-hit state because he's a snake, should have anyone question his leadership.
As for Trump going about daily life, he's been in immediate proximity of a handful of people who are now self-isolating, including his new chief of staff. The very least he can do is get tested and show the people he's supposed to be leading, some evidence that he actually is healthy. Do you really want your government officials putting on a show like the Iranians did when they coughed all over everyone near them on national tv? There is nothing wrong with preventative measures that include self-isolation, and from the government, the truth. I hope no other country needs to do what China did and Italy is now, where you literally shut the country down, but I'm not confident we won't see it elsewhere. If it becomes necessary anywhere in the US, will your government be honest about it and do it, or will they downplay it and let the virus run rampage?
