How much sleep do you get?

I've been reading about the link between sleep and mental problems like anxiety and depression for a while, so I was curious about when and how much you all sleep. It has been my personal experience that both when and how much you sleep matters for how you feel and what you do, so I'd like to get some data from people on this forum. As far as I remember, both too little and too much sleep can be bad for you.

I'd like to get 2 separate polls for when and how much you sleep, so this thread will deal with how much you sleep, and the other will deal with when you sleep.

Also, please talk about what you think about this topic.

Edit:Poll looks messed up...meant to say how many "Hours" of uninterrupted sleep do you get per night. If mod can edit or someone can tell me how, that would be nice.

I almost always get 8 solid hours of uninterrupted sleep every night, very occasionally 9-10, and if I've pulled an all-nighter recently, that can go up to 12-14, but that's quite rare these days. I get to sleep around 1 AM on average and usually wake up at 9 AM. When I go to sleep later than 1 AM, I wake up later. I can easily make myself wake up earlier if there's something important or something that I'm looking forward to in the morning that I absolutely have to wake up on time for, but I usually have to "program" myself to wake up like that by thinking about the event in question when I'm going to sleep, and it actually works really well. It's quite surprising how accurate your internal clock can be sometimes.

I usually get 5 to 7 hours sleep.

I need 8 to 9 hours to feel good about myself. Sleep deprivation definitely makes me depressed and feeling helpless.
Around every 2 weeks I'll have 8 or 9 hours of sleep and feel fantastic. But it seems I can't replicate it again the next night and so on. It's the deprivation over that time which will result in one good night every fortnight. :sad

I oversleep as well but I find that oversleeping is worse for the head and mood than even missing a night of sleep.

I think I sleep too much lately :/

About a week ago I slept 16 hours. It was already dark when I woke up.

Even tho i love my sleep, i find days that I've over-slept are spent fighting off a severe headache with occasional periods of being "not so swift". lol.

Yeah that happens to me too =/

It's hard not feel grim when you're in the dark so much of the time and, if your sleep can get as screwed up as mine, often being awake while everybody else is asleep, and vice versa. It's really isolating...

I get headaches too when I sleep for too long although I've recently come to believe they're largely a result of being somewhat dehydrated...

Well, they say the average is 8 hrs. I need at least 9 hrs, mostly due to taking paxil. Of course, I never get that, seeing as I suffer from chronic insomnia. I probably average around 4-6 hrs on working days, then crash on my days off. It's a never ending cycle...

7-9 hours on average, 10-15 hours if i'm depressed, and when my anxiety is shredding me up i can go for a few days without getting more than 5 hours.

i definitely feel best when I get 8-9 hours per night. any more and i feel even worse, and any less and i start to get manic. kind of weird how it works, but c'est la vie for now.

About 6 hours before school nights because I get anxious from school work. And about 8-10 hours on weekends because I don't need to worry as much.

I will usually get about 8 hours during the work week if I get to bed early. However, on the weekends I often will find it hard to get going and feel very tired. I actually can sleep until 11 a.m. sometimes if I don't have to be anywhere. I think this is probably the depression I don't know.
