Back Pain

Throughout most of my day I feel mild to excruciating pain in my back. I don't know what could be causing this, I sometimes wonder if it is imagined. I also think about whether this is part of the reason for my feeling miserable, or if it is the other way around. I am afraid to see a doctor out of fear that it could be something horrible. Are there any suggestions as to how I can make it more tolerable? Anything is appreciated.

lower back pain? exercise always helps me out with it. i used to work for 4 orthopaedic surgeons. 3 would recommend pain meds and surgery and 1 would recommend exercise. the latter works best for me

Re: Back Pain

Exercise, and possibly a chiropractor could help. The other could be your bed mattress.

Re: Back Pain

You're only 17, so I doubt it's anything serious.

I would just go see a doctor, you'll probably even luck out and get some happy pills while you're there too.

Re: Back Pain

Its probably a strain that acts up when you stress it. The traditional treatment for a strain is R.I.C.E (rest, ice, compression, elevation) although elevation or compression doesn't apply here. Take an anti-inflamatory like advil (ibuprofen) with meals three times a day and apply ice for no more than 20 minutes at a time.
If your problem persists just go see your doc to workup properly..

Maximum over the counter pain killers in the US is 2 advils and 3 regular tylenols at once every 4-6 hours.

Re: Back Pain

exercise and increase those muscles to decrease backpain. Don't sit for long periods of time. Don't lie in bed too much. If you continue to feel pain see your doctor.

You had me at hello.

Re: Back Pain

I pretty much have constant back, neck, and shoulder pain. I've been to doctors and physical therapists to no avail.

just one more song to slay this earth
and i can't explain myself just what it's worth
it was all i had, but not all i'd need
and i can't escape the fact that i still bleed

Re: Back Pain

I have mild scoliosis. The pain in my upper back kills me in the morning. I have exercised and been to a chiropractor, but they didn't help much. Another doctor said I just have to live with it unless it gets bad enough for a surgery and keep exercising.
