Awkward, anxious parents

How many of us with anxiety have parents with similar symptoms? Both my parents are awkward and anxious in their own ways. I never understood it when i was younger, but I understand it now. maybe that's why I have SA, because in public we were always the most awkward family around.

Just wanted to see if it's common in people with SA.

I think my father is an introvert. But nothing abnormal with my mother and sister.

yeah, my mom was (and is) quite a nervous person and my dad was introverted and reserved. I feel their ways of handling social situations and just life in general definitely rubbed off on me, sometimes I feel in not a great way. I do my best to not blame them for my problems but its hard sometimes.

I don't think so. He seems quite normal in public. I have selective mutism as little as when I was 5 years old. So yeah I always anxious and nervous even when I was very small.

My mom is very shy and introverted, and I suspect she has a few anxious thoughts. My dad is fine, but I've always been more close to my mom than my dad.

It's funny, I can pretty much trace all of the SA stuff back to my grandmother from my mother's side. My grandmother was very anxious growing up and kinda still is. My mother always has been socially anxious too. Now it seems that I'm just the next generation of this crap, haha.

My Mood: Bored
My dad is introverted but not shy. My mom is a loud mouth extrovert. The only time I remember her being quiet was when she had depression about 10 years ago. My oldest sister seems like she has anxiety too, I don't see her often because she lives in another state. My second oldest sister is an extrovert.

Most of the women in my immediate family(sisters, mom, etc) are weirdly introverted. Lol. I don't know why. Although we do act differently around each other.

From the replies so far it seems there is a definite (partial) causation of parents' anxiety levels...

Would have been nice if they knew it themselves and were willing to disclose it to their children. It's like... i had to find out through years of pain and "outsiderness" what I was and how to combat my problems. then I grow up and find out my parents share similar traits and don't even know it themselves.

I don't want to blame my parents but I strongly dislike the way I was raised.
