What will you spend your coronavirus stimulus check on?

"The plan is for individuals to get up to $1,200 and married couples to get up to $2,400, including $500 for each child. The size of a check would diminish gradually for those whose income is above $75,000, while individuals earning more than $99,000 and couples earning more than $198,000 will not be getting any checks. The checks will be based on a household or individual’s 2018 tax return unless they filed their 2019 tax return, in which case it will be based of their 2019 return.
The treasury secretary, Steven Mnuchin, said last week that checks could be sent out as early as 6 April. The bill earmarks $250bn for the checks."

Am planning on ordering a couple hundred dollars worth of food to be delivered in order to stay at home as much as possible. Will also spend it on medication and doctor visits. Entertainment wise I'd like to get a PS4 to play some sports at home. Will also spend it on bills like cell phone and streaming. But will be spending most of it on foods I imagine. They want us to spend rather than save.

I don't think any of us qualify for one.

If I don't reply to you, it's NOTHING PERSONAL. It's my ANXIETY.

It looks like today they came to an agreement. So the senate will vote to approve the bill, then it gets sent to the house who will have their own vote, then sent to the president. Who will then sign it into law.

So it's not 'official' as of yet. We can't get people's hopes up too much unless confirmed. I have mixed feelings but in the end there's people who really need assistance.

If this is the finalized bill, this will mean a lot for some and very little for some, base on where one lives due to vast differences in costs of living in different places across the country.

Depending on regions, some can make below $40k a year and be very well off with plenty of savings, while some are making well above $100k and are living paycheck to paycheck. Base on this, the former group will benefit from it more, while their need for it is actually less. Vice versa for the latter.

The truth is strictly what the ones in power perceives it to be.

Enjoy any good things, even the little and menial ones, as you will never know what impending distresses could descend upon you in a moment.

Won't be getting anything here.

I'm probably just gonna save it if I can. Or, I'll make an extra student loan payment.

So unemployed people getting an extra $600 a week on top of the unemployment pay wow. But I'll use the money either to supplement my pay but if I'm getting unemployment or still getting paid by my job I'll use the money on debt (student loans) or maybe half on loans half on emergency fund.

That is true it has more steps until it's official but I am hopeful they will be coming.

Not sure if they kept in the reductions / eliminations for low income people. Last version of the bill I saw was going to give me $600, the really poor $0 and middle class people $1200. At any rate, if I get anything it'll go into my savings and I'll hope to not have to spend it.

Seems like minimum wage workers need to beg to be laid off so they can enjoy double or triple the pay they'd get for working. Condolences to those who are still employed.

Don't live in the US and if they did do that here I wouldn't get it because I'm not an official member of society.

Yeah many will try hard to be unemployed sadly just because of the pay.

I'm aiming to buy a small townhouse or condo this year or early next year. It will go towards that. Honestly, I hope the housing market crashes. One bedroom condos have nearly doubled in the past 5 years. Way too expensive!

My country is in midst of passing a bill for C$2000 per month disbursed to people whose livelihoods have been affected by the coronavirus.

I don't yet qualify, but if/once I do, I'd just live as I normally do. That is about my usual month of rent and living expenses.
