Unpopular/"un-talked about" opinions about society!

What are some things you find preposterous about society/culture?

I can't stand the fact that people glorify and worship celebrities. I have no idea (okay, I do) who is buying Kylie Jenner's rubbish, and who even gets a sense of fulfilment out of following her, or even how it fills a void. I also hate how her and other celebs like Grande get a free pass from being a very white girl to pretty much appropriation.

I find it baffling that extremely intelligent and rich people can discover new planets and such and send out a that disc thing that shows aliens where we are in the universe in hopes that a higher lifeform would respond and initiate contact. Surely the minimum requirement for a higher life form to make contact with you would be for everyone in that species to be on the same level-playing field? I don't think they'd be much interested in communicating with a species where there is such a divide between rich and poor, educated and uneducated etc.

I don't understand why people who self-admittedly say that life is horrible and that it's more pain and suffering than anything else would want to reproduce. Surely if you really thought that then you'd also be admitting that you would be fine bestowing this upon your offspring.

I have a few more but I'd be more interested to read what you guys think.

Mostly these kind of threads aren't that interesting, because anything too far outside of the Overton window won't get brought up.

I see no problem with necrophilia if you obtain written consent first.

In most cases, bestiality isn't worse than eating meat.

Islam has been spread through violence and oppression for over a thousand years, I don't think it's going to change.

I don't mind muslims as individuals however.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

-Most humans are "human supremacists" They think it's okay to kill other species, but not other humans. I would like to see the logic behind that. Other species have so low IQ, so it's okay to hunt and kill them? Babies are stupid af and yet, it's "SO" horrible when they die... I get it, I'm brainwashed to think same way, but why is it so uncomfortable for society to acknowledge this? All I wanna know is; why do I think killing a young rabbit is less of a deal, than killing a child? And why do you? Both creatures had a life.
If we would start a society from nothing and started to list rules and customs, we would have to form arguments for why human life is worth more. So WHAT ARE THOSE ARGUMENTS? ("That's just the way it is" is not an argument)

-"Sex sells" yes everyone knows, we've heard that million times... Wait, WTF that even means? The singer is showing skin, because "sex sells"? Bare skin = sex? If SHE was wearing more clothes, the record company would sell less records? Less clothes = more money, where does it end then? Both men and women call them cheap skanks, if they wear revealing clothes, so how does "sex sell"? Men don't go to concerts or click youtube music videos in hopes to see some sideboob. I some form, revealing lady parts did sell back in the day, but not anymore in the age of internet. So how about we stop saying "sex sells" and believing it does, just because our grandparents said so. They ARE half naked tho, so either companies are clueless or they are pulling some other scheme and just make us believe it's about "sex"
I know, I know, sexual desires are deeply wired into most people, but if sex DOES sell, then how the hell it works then? "It's like people buy stuff when they see a nipple slip" WOW, great explanation...

The world would be better off without people. Thanos should have disintegrated everyone, not just half the population.

Thanos killed my second favourite waifu, and I only have several of those you know.

Also other fictional people I like.

Meeting a self described anarcho communist feminist is like looking at a surrealist painting for me. I'm too fascinated by what's going on there to worry about how ****ed up it all is.

Also, I'm very weary of the latest buzzword "neoliberal" people have been throwing around lately. Seems to apply to anyone that they don't agree with but are still left wing. It's funny how liberals have become the intolerant and violent ones.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

I actually agree with you, if you ignored hype in media it's mundane in the real world.

Pretty much, yeh. If I had no access to anything re media, I probably wouldn't have noticed any real difference in my slice of reality in the last 10 years. A lot of the stuff in this thread seems to be entirely optional to get worked up about /shrug.

everybody knows that injustice is all around them in their everyday lives, especially in their workplaces, in the financial pressures that is placed on them by their banks, and the countless places that impose "fees" on them and so on. When people walk in the streets they know community healthcare places are teetering on breakdown, many communities are falling apart, and so on.

The majority of people don't do a single thing about it. nobody makes any significant statement/action to call out the unfairness that is placed onto them or their family or neighbours. I wish people weren't so afraid to rebel and make their voices heard. Sometimes I think we are aware--and afraid--of the violence that would be cast onto us if we did, from losing our jobs, to being investigated, profiled, blacklisted, or even assasinated. The liberal and affluent sectors of society are too gutless to stand up.

The absolutely most unpopular/taboo thing you can ask a person is how much money they have in their bank account.
