We can't even control our own wildfires what do you think anyone can do about a jungle the size of a state burning down

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Bolsonaro (the president of Brazil) is Trump's guy. He even went to the CIA headquarters in Washington to visit a couple of months ago. He's a buddy with trump and all-in with the military industrial complex.

Even if Putin wanted to, he's not going to be welcome in Brazil to help. The main international nation that could help is the US, and they'd much rather have the amazon literally burn in hell.

I don't think Jair Bolsonaro is very interested in helping to extinguish the fires.

Realistically, half the human population, then there will be no profit in clearing more trees, as there won't be as big a demand for juicy steaks.

I know they both are against saving the Amazon even Putin has been in the headlines for saving their very own endangered species.

USA and Russia both uses that technique where clouds are manipulated for the rains. Does any other country use this?

If I remember correctly Bolsonaro recently lost some court case to the indigenous people in the area that kept him from cutting into the Amazon for resource extraction, he campaigned on opening up a decent amount of it. He got rid of some regulatory protections recently, not saying he started it but it's worth mentioning, but regardless I doubt he's too upset about the fire and the displacement of the people.

I wouldn't be terribly surprised if it was intentional as well.

Out of curiousity I just looked up stats on Google, it says less than 5% of world population are vegetarian & vegan, something incredibly drastic is gonna have to happen to convince the 95% to change, even then it's only an extension by using a more efficient food source, won't people still eventually want to clear trees to plant more crops if there's a buck to be had.

I'm almost certain that the only non-violent option to get some real change going is a massive general strike, but unfortunately we don't really have the labor apparatus in place to get one organized, so I say we accelerate the climate problem and just have a world wide orgy, and ironically we just f*** our way into extinction. could be cool.

But in a big mass things like for example 3 days a week without meat makes a big difference in todays situation. There is a lot of delicious foods without meats and also there is options to choose what kind of meat people eat. It can be organic, wild etc.

This is not a typical wildfire situation. These fires are intentionally lit because Bolsonaro basically said burn this mother****er down. I am reading just now that he's ordered troops to help put the fires out, but that doesn't pass my smell test. There is no effort from any country with the resources, to send as many firefighters as they can, likely because they know Bolsonaro will say something that amounts to f*** off.

France and Ireland showed some stones by saying they will not ratify a huge upcoming trade deal if Brazil does nothing. Bolsonaro is to blame for these fires.
