Where to look when walking towards someone?

The answer(s) to this question is something that "normies" probably never even think about. But I wonder what people here do in this scenario. Please feel free to provide any additional details not listed below.

When someone you know is walking or moving in your direction, but they are far away, how do you face or look at them? What do you do? Assume it is an acquaintance that you have to acknowledge when they are within closer proximity. Avoiding the person is usually what I do and probably what some of you do. But that option is not an answer in this scenario.

A) Look straight at or towards them.

B) Glance forward a little bit, and then turn towards them when they are closer.

C) Look away, then look at them when they are nearby.

D) Combination of the above.

E) None of the above. Please explain. But changing direction or avoidance, or something similar to it, is not an option.

Also. How do you move your eyes? Which way do you turn your body and face as you are walking toward them? What expression do you make with your face? Do you maintain the same pace? Do you start moving faster or slower? Do you not actively think about your body language?

If I want to meet the person: A, look at them and walk towards them with a smile.
If I don’t want to meet the person: C, pretend I didn’t see them first but notice them when they are near, or E: look at them, do a head bop and look away on something else. If this is in a long hallway with no shops or posters I would look at them and alternate looking at my phone.

If I arranged to meet them there I will likely wave and walk faster towards them, but I’m assuming this is a scenario where you randomly meet someone you happen to know

I think this is a general thing people are awkward about. And what to do when people sing you happy birthday. I've seen those posts a lot. So seems like a universal concern lol

I look at them. Look down. Look at them again. Lol, depends how far the distance is

I might wave and smile. Or do one of those Jim Halpert faces. Pretending like there's something to see on your phone is good too.

Combo

I forgot to read the comb option and didn't vote for that but it really depends for me on where I'm at and what I'm doing.

For instance, if I'm walking around in the office, I've been able to learn to be able to glance and look at people—often just saying "hi" or nodding.

However, when I'm going into places where I don't know anyone, I try my hardest to not look at anyone 'cause it gets awkward really quick. It hurts when I feel other people being awkward.

And then, there are some very, very odd days where I'll obtain some unique form of confidence and be able to look anyone in eye. Even the women. Very weird.

It just keeps changing every week. :stu

It depends on the situation, usually I'll look away until we eventually meet in the middle somewhere and depending on the day will either smile &/or say hi, or continue walking.

Currently, I try to keep at least two arm's length distance from them as I walk by.

I get into an uncontrollable sniffle and start sneezing incessantly.

I usually look straight ahead and pretend they're not there. :lol (my peripheral vision is probably better than it should be from a lifetime of exercise).

I try to not look at them because it can get weird based on experience.

i don't have to acknowledge anyone. depends who it is. depends what i'm doing. depends on the stars. lol depends on anything.

C) Look away, then look at them when they are nearby.

I look at them when I get close because I feel like if I don't I come off as a *****.

Look away, then look at them when they are nearby

I get annoyed with myself when I do the double take if I think I recognize them, I've got to know, was it them or wasn't it, as if I'd do anything about it anyway. :um

Look at the ground until in "saying hi" range. Then furtively glance to see if they want to say hi. Smile and nod if they do, otherwise keep looking down. It's really stressful.
