Now answer me this: Is that not possible to do while masturbating regularly?

To my knowledge, yes. From my experience- I'm more ambitious about pursuing someone when I don't.

Well, "porn addiction" is BS. You can't be addicted to porn. It's impossible. It's not heroin. It's pictures of naked people. People who keep perpetuating the idea that you can be addicted to something like porn are making a joke out of real addiction.

Absolutely anything can be center of an obsession and Yes, addictions are normally defined via the substance used to alter the mood of the person- though porn isn't a chemical, it is used in a very similar matter as an aphrodisiac would be. You can obsess over porn and can be an addict of the chemical change and pleasure of sexual activity/masturbation.

I think hypersexual activity is listed as a valid addiction regardless of simply being "addicted" to the act. It can be dangerous. Over stimulation in any form is known to destroy normal sleeping habits, cause unnatural fatigue and the most notably here, anxiety. Being without whatever over stimulates causes discomfort which naturally effects mood. This is very much like an addiction, no? Your mood reflected in the too states of "high" and "low" solely? There being no moderation?

This is the biggest pile of crap ever. Yeah. You and your ilk are obviously obsessed with something.

I masturbate about 10 times a month. If that. Sometimes I go weeks without doing it just because I'm not up to it. This is obviously not "excessive" or "obsessive" by any stretch of the imagination. Why am I not cured?

The decision between masturbating and not masturbating is another case of instant gratification vs. long-term-reward, or eating that whole tub of ice cream vs working out, or spending your money on some junk at the flea market vs. saving up your money for a new car. In the masturbation case, you are a lot more prone to feel relaxed and fall asleep if you were to masturbate then if you were to not masturbate and instead devote your energy to something else, whether it be working out, running errands, or talking to girls. Therefore, it follows that if you're not to masturbate for an extended period of time, you will develop characteristics that make you a more energized person who is also capable of making decisions with their new found self-control

All in all, I masturbate everyday, but after reading this and convincing myself, I think it's best for my situation to quit masturbating so frequently.

I don't agree with all that "not masturbating cures shyness" talk, but this is just as stupid. You're not going to be sexually repressed because you decided to stop masturbating.

What does your habits have to do with the statement you quoted? People can build obsessions around practically anything.

Where did I once say that any masturbating regimen is the devil itself and most be stop? I did not. Not once. I did say that in absence of masturbation- I've been more prone to pursue relations with women. I not telling you this is going to work for everyone, but I am saying don't dismiss it as superfluous rubbish just because of nature of the first post. I will not at all say that his experiences nor mine are to serve as the the foundation of a new way of life for whom that are skeptical- I saying that if you are willing to consider how the most important aspect here, the act of socializing, is connected to your masturbation habits; you might see a correlation- you may not. At least you took the time to see the logic in the original poster's pursuit and how he found it profitable.

I'd much rather you voice your disagreements with reasons as I did in my previous most much rather than completely undermine the suggestions that I've present in hope of you understanding why one could see things how me or Sleeping Dragon understands them.

I took offense to your post. Let that be noted.

I quit watching porn a while ago. It definitely skews your image of actual sex and it's not anything to learn off of either.

Uhh even I'm not a big fan of this whole stop watching porn idea but what you just said makes no sense what-so-ever. Ever heard of sex/porn addiction or gambling addiction because it is very real. All because its not a substance like heroin doesn't mean you can't get addicted to it. People get addicted to anything whether that be fast food or even video games. So although I don't really believe regular viewings of porn can be harmful, it can be if done repeatedly.

Never think opportunity as another way for anxiety to push you down, think of it as another way for you to push anxiety down.

I should really quit watching porn. I spend more time watching porn than practicing on my guitar. I could of use that time for better things but i can't help it.

I've heard of people being addicted to drinking water. Just because you've heard of it doesn't mean it isn't nonsense. Did you ever consider that people sometimes have an agenda? There has been an anti-porn and anti-masturbation agenda for ages. And it's not just religious people. These morons will say anything to justify their prejudice. They've always used the medical terminology of the time to give it more of an official ring. In these times when psychology is practically a religion, you can count on them making a bunch of psychobabble up for their anti-masturbation agenda. They might even be able to get some reputable people on-board but that doesn't change the fact that it's all nonsense.

Yes it does. Like I said, if you want to persist with this nonsense, be my guest but you're just making a joke out of real addiction. If you want to live in a world where people don't take real addiction seriously anymore, this is the way to do it.

Show me a picture of a guy curled up in a ball twitching in the darkest corner of his basement because he can't get a hamburger or play WOW and I might do something other than laugh at this nonsense.

I am aware that there's an extreme anti-porn streak in our society. This is nothing new. These same idiots have been claiming porn is a terrible scourge ever since porn was nothing but women in bathing suits.

Porn and masturbation have a lot of enemies for a lot of different reasons. When someone comes out of nowhere "preaching" against masturbation or porn, you have to take anything they say with a big grain of salt.

I can't think of single thing I would gain from quitting mastrubation. Why would I want to make myself even more miserable?

picklenose, I don't think anyone here is specifically against porn itself, there's no hidden agenda, we're not trying to sell anything. we're just offering possible solutions that i personally, and from what i see a whole lot of people have discovered and gotten good results from.

I want to stop. I can't make myself stop.

Sounds like an addiction to me.

If you don't believe in psychological addiction, you must be stupid.

I generally don't masturbate/watch porn. I don't really feel the need for it, quite often. Think it is around 11 days since I last did it.
