Formal/informal you and social anxiety

For those of you who speak a language with this distinction -
I'm curious if this is a source of anxiety for you, like whenever you're unsure if you've reached the point to use the informal you with somebody, or if you're self-conscious about not being on that basis with anyone outside your family (I'm unsure if I'd be right now).

Sometimes it is true...

Even shy people can be sassy sometimes...
I'll put drunk raccoon in my signature as well, because I CAN...

I speak a bit of Indonesian and it has this distinction. It's always a bit hard to know when to use it but another thing they do up there is to use the person's name instead of "you."

For example they'll say does "Harrison" want to come shopping with me? I think they do it when they're still unsure and wanting to be polite.

I know what you mean though - but I usually just switch to the more familiar term when I feel like I know them a bit better.
