Bouts of Feeling Dead on the Inside

Currently I feel dead on the inside.

I don't really feel happy or sad. I still get excited or feel down about people, events etc but it's not real. I don't really feel it. I'm just going through the motion or forcing myself to feel.

Do you get this way?

Hi there.

Looking inside your heart do you think you could find the reasons why?

Sometimes pain pushes is to be aware of something, or to give attention to something or motivates us towards something.

Are you missing anything?

I don't think I get this. I can get depressed or down but the mania is much more common. You basically feel like you can do anything, you get over-excited about everything, sometimes a bit angry, then you're head feels like it's going to explode. (I can live with everything except the last bit - that's very annoying)

I get periods when I sort of feel what I guess most people feel like - close to "normal", but the rest of the time it's sort of all or nothing, extremes.

That sounds like bipolar...

What comes to emptiness inside... Well I'm not going to say that I'm completely empty inside, but not much is left either. I might feel something, but not much anymore, it's hard to get excited to me or care about someone else... It feels like there's black hole full of void inside me and it's getting bigger everyday, one day of course it will suck up everything. And I'm not sure what will happen then... It already took from me things like life joy, or wish to have someone by my side and etc...

Even shy people can be sassy sometimes...
I'll put drunk raccoon in my signature as well, because I CAN...

I sort of alternate between being angry, dead inside and anxious. There are probably small periods where I feel almost normal, very small periods where I feel manic/hypomanic/hyperactive maybe. These don't include more normal reactive fluctuations of mood like sometimes I'll feel amused or sad about something too.

Wonder if you could be bipolar 2? With the mania I mean? (and the anger)

I've considered that I might have a milder mood disorder before like cyclothymia I don't think I really get as manic as bipolar people do, and it might be some kind of hormonal imbalance too contributing to some of my moods. I also have a lot of ADHD-like symptoms. So kind of hard to say.

Feeling dead on the inside has become the norm for me. I always have to fake emotions otherwise people will get weirded out by my lack of reaction. Most of the time I have low energy which makes it hard to care about anything. Kind of why I avoid social situations because I just find them more draining than engaging now.

What does dead inside even mean

Even the term itself clearly shows the sufferer HAS an emotional capacity,in contrast to "dead", which means "perished", "non-existant"

I think we know we’re dead inside only because we remember what it was like to really feel alive. If we always felt this way, maybe this would just be normal to us.

I'm either in a lifeless state where I'm out of touch with my feelings and don't really feel much of anything, or I am overwhelmingly depressed, anxious, and/or angry. Any happiness/joy tends to be very short lived or very faked/forced.

Not really. No. I can't imagine what that would be like.

honestly i'd rather be dead inside than devastatingly emotional/depressed/anxious/paranoid.

feeling like a ghost or a walking corpse is pretty damn depressing, but easier to deal with than being thrashed around by a tornado of erratic, RELENTLESS, psychical pain.

Is dead inside the idea of feeling numb about whatever and whoever?

I dont think i get this...I get numb but also angry with it.
