A blender explosion.
Also tried to boil eggs in the microwave and they exploded too.

In 2006 I started cooking some vegetable oil. I put the lid on it to keep the heat in, thinking this would make it warm up faster. After I took the lid off the oil caught fire. I poured water on the oil to put out the fire, and the oil exploded, igniting some nearby paper towels. Fortunately nothing else caught fire, and I was able to clean it up without further incident.

I have not once, but twice, forgotten to remove the cardboard from the bottom of a frozen pizza before cooking it.

For forty-seven years I've put up with it now. I must stop Christmas from coming ... but how?

I turned some baked goods green and inedible by switching baking soda with baking powder, or something like that.

I forgot what I was trying to make now, it was several years ago and I think involved using some stock. Pretty sure I was following a recipe as well but still messed up and the food was basically inedible.

Also one time I was making apple crumble and the crumble ended up rock-like.

More recently I accidentally set fire to the edge of a frying pan cover but I noticed pretty quickly and put it out.

coconut warmed 20 mins, recommended
indeed, easier to open/crack

after bleeding eyelets or not. just busted inner oven glass shattered.

no surprise. pressure

thick glass fragments like a bunch of carbon, fossillised diamonds

impossible find any replacement genuine glass to fit. too old product with no model description. stuffed some glaze of near-ish dimensions. no way cut/trim that, as a tile. squeezed between upper & lower metal round washer kind of retainers screwed in. any twist by finger & screwdriver later.. as acrylic toilet set/lid too, prone to cracks spreading from there... further... as and cracked windscreen, caused by insect or grit at speed
gaps between edges... pleased with aged oven still functioning.. and forced adjustment of thermostat, leaking too much heat/pressure..

years on... oven just died.. power disappeared! why? nothing to do with the glass or all else replacements by me... heating element, rubber gasket, hinge, mounting the door needing assistance. proud of making good of old.
same properties of cars(5) crumblinngg away.. sell as-is
onto my final?? chapter.. sorry if this not kitchen-related, but hardware. dead car engine learnt from. next - prolonged use each journey fully successful. how many years of it? backup car ready, newest of all 5. How balance???
seriously, SAME day, new oven installed! Jan 2019. 4th car, local mate on doorbell servicing car while oven fitting. i say wait til this done, we'll go do that. he said: gimme keys! he jacked it up, in cold, engine warmed to let oil drain. brought service kit and jack, tools in his car to get started. door hanging off needing 2 pairs hands put right. all engine cared for as usual. rough tho. days after service, cantankerous banging noises inside still same way all time til now in November! hedging my bets keep driving. what/who dies soonest?

I can't really remember any actual disasters but quite a bit of my cooking would probably classify as one.

I tend to have microdisasters in the kitchen. That's (in my internal dictionary) something that is just serious enough to piss me off and make me not want it to happen again.

Examples would be like the one time I had my head too close to a pot of soup I was making and dropped a baby onion in there and it made a bigger splash than I expected and it went in my eye.

Another time I did something wrong with the coffee maker and it went everywhere while I was sitting in here reading SAS. My dog came running back through the hallway looking back in a nervous way and I kinda thought "That's kinda strange. Why does she look scared?" Went in there and there was friggin coffee everywhere. The dog hid in the bathroom the rest of the night.

Oh. I was trying to cut frozen chicken breasts once (smart, huh?). Predictably, the knife slipped (eventually) and cut the piss out of me. Had me furiously searching the internet to find out if you could get sick from getting raw chicken juice in an open wound.

I watched a video about Bruce lee and how he used to eat all these vegetables and be healthy and stuff. So I decided to be healthy too and went to the shops and got all the different vegetables I could see. Even mushrooms. I blended them with only water because I wanted to be extra healthy. But it didn't work and i almost vomited. Does that count?

☆ I warmed up a mini chocolate cake in the microwave when I was 10, but something went wrong and the microwave never worked again after it. The kitchen was smokey and the plate I used had to be thrown out.

☆ I forgot the top slice of bread on a sandwich I was grilling once, and the cheese stuck to the inside of the sandwich toaster lid. I think there have been two times where I've forgotten to put the cheese on and toasted two plain slices of bread together with nothing on them.

☆ A few months ago, I dropped my lasagne when I was taking it out of the oven and it fell onto the glass inside the oven door. I tried moving it off because my mum had just cleaned the oven and I thought she would be annoyed. I burned my hand when it touched the door, and now I have a scar from it.

☆ Last year, I had to put some chips in the oven for my niece and nephew. When I went to take them out 30 minutes later, I found out I hadn't put the oven on.

This was what happened the only time I tried making a mug cake:

I tried making cookies once in the oven and they got burnt so they looked like ash, not very tasty...

My brother has a bad habit of turning the toaster timer to the max and we forget to check it and turn it down, I got distracted and my toast got burnt but the crumb tray on the bottom was so full it caught on fire.

Found a recipe for a cream cheese cherry ice cream so wanted to make ice cream for the first time. Made the mistake of using about 3 times as many eggs as necessary. Overcooked also it so it turned eggy and weird so I had to throw most of it away.
