i wanted to go on holiday in Denmark , never happened.

I was even more into instant gratification back then than I am now - so things haven't really changed all that much. I guess most kids are though - so at least then I had an excuse.

I remember wanting to run away one time. I've put it on here before - my sister wanted to come to but I said no.

Basic things. Social acceptance, friends, the boy I liked to like me back, a cure to my acne, my mother to stop tormenting me, parents to stop fighting, my own bedroom, etc.

I wanted to be someone else. Pretty much anyone. Can't say much has changed.

I must not have been a normal child. I think I just wanted to be liked. That's all. No dreams, no visions, no aspirations. All that came later.

I wanted to be an astronaut and go to the moon. I was hoping I would find dinosaurs there. I kid you not. I even wrote a story about it in Grade 1*. The astronauts, sadly, were devoured by the space T-Rex.

* Actually, this is obviously later since I'm writing and not printing. I'm sort of hazy about when I learned to do all this stuff. But I could read Dr. Seuss by the time I started Kindergarten.

Is it just me or is it getting crazier out there.

To see a shooting star and to have a pet that wasn’t a goldfish (a rabbit, a cat that didn’t scratch or a dog that didn’t bite).

I wanted to be the roadrunner but I ended up being the coyote.

And all our yesterdays have lighted fools the way to dusty death
Out, out, brief candle! Life's but a walking shadow,
A poor player that strut's and fret's his hour upon the stage and is heard no more,
It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

I think I wanted to be a mermaid, Tomb Raider and a video game developer in that order. Other stuff briefly too. Oh I wanted magical powers too obviously. Wanted to go to Hogwarts really badly. I wanted Pokemon to be real and I wanted to be some kind of gym leader in a virtual/electronic Pokemon league (like using the GBC + GBA games.) Like people would come and challenge me to fights and then I'd give them a badge (never got the opportunity to roleplay that or anything but that would have been cool.) I liked psychic/ghost/dark Pokemon, fire Pokemon, and Dragons so prob would have been a mix of those.

I don't remember really wanting things (and I'm still not very into things.) Maybe a PlayStation, I was very excited when we got one anyway. Probably the most excited in my entire life. I think so actually. I don't think I've ever been more excited than after we got a PlayStation (the original console.) I was about 7 years old. Maybe when I went to my first concert (Green Day) when I was 14.

I wanted to have the toys I saw on TV and in the catalogues, and I wanted to have as many toys as my affluent friends had. That, I remember. And I wanted my own *new* bike, as I always had hand-me-downs.

As for aspirations, I wanted to drive go-karts competitively. Always did.

I had no real ambition like that until I was 10 or so. I was infinitely immersed in video games. Then I started reading books about astronomy and I really wanted to be astronomer. I'd tell all my relatives when they'd ask what I wanted to be when I grew up. Then I came to terms with the math. Nope!

To go to India and to work as a car mechanic or a librarian (not necessarily in India). I also wanted to be a musketeer real bad but was told they didn't exist anymore. It was a sad day!

I always wanted to be appreciated/admired for my imagination/creativity, which ended up taking the form of becoming a writer.

Go figure that writers need a lot of self-confidence + the ability to tell a compelling story others want to read, neither of which I possess; people won't even read my stuff for free. I should know--it's been available for free online for twenty years now. I have exactly zero readers.

I also have zero alternate skills to gather appreciation/admiration. (When I was really young I thought I could be an artist. I have even less artistic skill than writing skill.)

If I don't reply to you, it's NOTHING PERSONAL. It's my ANXIETY.

Det. Kristeva: "If it were legal you'd marry me, right?"
Det. Devetko: "Definitely."

(It's legal now!! But Kristeva's already married. ;_; )

I wanted to be an adult. I used to like to play with my dad's wallet and keys and stuff and was strangely interested in boring adult things like insurance and mortgages and filling out paperwork and going to the bank and the like. Not sure why. Now that I'm an adult I hate adulting and would prefer to be teenager without any responsibilies or a care in the world.

Everybody knows you only live a day but it's brilliant anyway
