Question

For the people that don't drive.....

For the people that don't/can't drive or don't have a vehicle how do you get around? How do you get to work, stores, doctor's appointments etc?

buses, subway, commuter rail, trams. it's not cheap but it's affordable if you have a decent salary it's 9310 SEK per year which is around 900 USD. tho , when i was on unemployment, the price was a nuisance definitely.

Lucky to live in a city that has extensive public transportation. Otherwise I don't know what I'd do.

Public transport and walking. Lots and lots of walking.

$900 a year? I'd pay that in less than 2 months here. Thats cheap!

My husband drives me, or I walk. I used to take this bus but we don’t have a city bus where I live now. I used to use ride sharing apps, taxi’s, co workers, family members, hitch hiking, or people would offer rides. I don’t recommend it though because I’ve had dangerous encounters. I’ve been driven around by everyone and their grandma.

I know a poet. Heís as sweet as pie, writes poems about me that make me cry. Arthur Miller, 12 years senior, heís my bugga baby sigh.

It's inevitable that I will be a no driver. I was for years and then I got the seizures under control again (by luck) by adding another AED on top of the one I was already taking. When they come back (and they will) I will not be able to drive once again.

Currently I walk to work. My last job I took the subway. I'm willing to walk to work as long as it's less than a 25 minute walk. More than that- I'll take the subway/bus.

I go to supermarkets either by bus or by walking. Going to the shopping mall or anywhere not super close is quite the journey. Because if takes 20 minutes by car, it will take 60 minutes by bus. Taking public transit can be tricky if you really have to there by a certain time (like job interviews or doctors' appointments). Very easy to end up late since buses are late all the time and are unpredictable.

I don't think I could handle relying on other people for rides. That would really suck. Maybe for occasional trips but not for every day. Need to have your freedom.

I have a car, but Iíve been biking to downtown more often lately after getting a new bike. The main reason is because the parking here is pretty crappy plus it doesnít take too long to get to downtown on bike from where I live(about an hour).

I get public transport a lot now - although I do drive. I just don't have a car at the moment. I get trams and trains - but my wife leaves her car for me near her place. Then I park it closer to the station for her in the afternoons when I go up there.

I'm pretty used to public transport now - I used to hate it. But I can sort of relax and listen to the radio or look stuff up on my phone. It's a bit annoying when people are virtually sitting on your lap on the tram though.

Walking to work sounds awesome, yeah I hear the bus delays are crazy.
