I bet there are not many of those now. That's for sure.

Costco customers here are oblivious. They walk way out in the middle of the parking lot so you can't get past them. They stand around in groups of 5 or more inside the store in the main aisle and block people from getting by. Some of them walk really slow right in the middle of the aisle so you can't get past them. It's ridiculous.
I went to Costco before and it was kind of busy there. They have nice stuff but I went with someone who had to use one of those wheelchair things cause she couldnt really walk long distances and it sucked cause I had to walk slow. I'm used to walking fast. It's awkward walking with someone who has to use one of those wheelchairs. I always felt like I got even weirder looks.

I can excuse the wheelchair people because, well...they have a good excuse. I get annoyed at them sometimes but I understand.

I just get irritated when there's like 7 people who know each other standing in a big cluster right in the middle of the main aisle shooting the breeze while people are backed up waiting for them to move. This happens to me every single time I'm in there. And my dad piles on heavy stuff on the cart so it takes a ton of effort to start and stop. So I'm trying to stop this thing every 15 seconds and then waiting for people to move and then spinning my tires to get it going again.

They'll just be standing there going "Did you hear about Martha? She's getting that boil on the back of her neck popped this week!" "Oh really? Wow! That thing is really persistent, huh?" "Yeah! They told her if it keeps coming back they're gonna have to get serious with it!"

Meanwhile, some guy walks past me with a weenie on a stick and coughs in my face as he chomps down on it. I just know that's gonna be what does me in. I get coughed on in Costco waiting for the family conference to end.

Some countries have a low rate officially because they're just not registered. Like in China they have a lot more cases of people infected with it, but the illnesses are officially named ''flu'' or pneumonia and so are the causes of deaths.... In Russia they also want the country to look like it's too cool for people to get infected with this virus there so the doctors are ordered to gaslight people about it and write down they have something else. As far as I know, you can't even get tested in Moscow, never mind the rest of the cities. They only register a few cases and the rest of them are covert.

Sorry not sorry

They cancelling everything. They just cancelled the St Patrick's day parade in my area. Colleges are telling students not to come. The NCAA says no fans allowed at the tournament next week.

But yeah the UK press loves fear porn. It's like when we get 'bad weather' and they all write about this intense storm that's coming, I think a lot of people want something terrible to happen here most of the time tbh. Or transport shuts down because of the wrong type of snow. The British press is just great (sarcasm they're the worst.)
About immunity: The Department of Infectious Diseases at the University Hospital in Geneva said something about that in the German press. Here is a Google translation of what was said. The English isn't perfect but Google is doing a pretty good job here.

All the German speaking countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) are working with that framework right now.

Are you immune after surviving infection?

Covid-19 patients develop antibodies after infection with the virus. "Neither did we expect anything else based on experience with other corona viruses, such as the Sars or Mers pathogens," says Isabella Eckert from the Department of Infectious Diseases at the University Hospital in Geneva. "However, we do not yet know how long this will last. If one assumes an analogy to the other corona viruses, one could assume a period of a few years: With Sars, for example, antibodies are detectable for three to five years."

Here is another translation from an Austrian site:

It is also currently unclear how long this potential immunity could last, is it?

"Yes, that's correct, it is different, with many viruses you are protected for life, but not with all. It depends on the formation of memory cells, but you can see with many diseases that the probability is relatively high."

Your brother traveling: Brave. Fancy getting stuck in a foreign country right now

British press: I used to live in the UK. The press is something else. And the Daily Mail is the world's worst paper. They post about 20 articles a day about corona atm. Even the comment section over there is telling them to take it down a notch.

There were rumors that this virus has two strains, but I never got it confirmed.

If you were to get the coronavirus, you wouldn't get it again....unless, it's that "other strain". If the virus was to mutate at all, that leaves infection wide open. Even one slight change would make it a whole other issue.

Huh interesting English language media seemed to be saying the opposite for some reason, but that was some time ago I think.

Yeah I try to avoid the tabloid ones where possible, they always use over the top language as well when describing news stories.

Lucy's bitten
Neck is bleeding bad
The teeth have long departed
Yet the desire burns strong
On in desire for destruction
One on which she'll depend
One that ceases to deepen
Too near bitter end

Black through the mountains
She turns her loosening ring
Guardian angel sings
"I think you've lost your wings, but you're still yours
You're still yours, you're still yours"

They're really going all out on the hysteria now. NCAA will not have fans at their tournament games. NBA talking of going without fans in the arenas. Stock market is all in a tizzy. It didn't get like this during SARS, Swine Flu and H1N1.

Calm down, people. Healthy people tolerate COVID-19 just fine. It is the elderly and those with underlying conditions that have trouble with it...and they have trouble with all viruses.

"You Americans are so gullible. No, you won't accept communism outright, but we'll keep feeding you small doses of socialism until you'll finally wake up and find you already have communism. We won't have to fight you. We'll so weaken your economy until you'll fall like overripe fruit into our hands."

Our latest case, a 46 year old guy gave an interview some of you might find interesting.
https://www.tampabay.com/news/health...virus-patient/

It details how he caught it, how he felt at first, how he currently feels.

As far as my area is concerned, nothing has changed as far as I can see. I'm not aware of any public gatherings being cancelled, the stores and restaurants parking lots were still full. Grocery stores are still well stocked, besides rubbing alcohol and hand sanitizer. Other than that, my wife went to a health clinic today, and while talking with the doctor, the doctor eluded to the fact that another one of their local clinics had two cases that may have been covid-19. The doctor did say she was slightly worried, because she might get infected, but there is nothing she can really do about it.

We are still avoiding eating out, or public gatherings. The health clinic was necessary, but what can ya do? If the heat/humidity doesn't impact this, I have little doubt that we will catch it, at this point I'm more so concerned of spreading it to the very large local group of elderly here.
