The Progressive Rock & Progressive Metal Thread

I couldn't find something like this, so I've decided to create one. Can I? I just saw the post from @Barakiel , "The Jazz Thread", and something flicked in my mind. Are there any Prog Rock/Prog Metal fans out there? Shall we talk about this awesome genre? Post recommendations, opinions, etc. I begin recommending these songs:

Russia On Ice, by Porcupine Tree - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nKN9_H1Dks

Octavarium, by Dream Theater - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVMIk3xYaYo

The Pinzler Method, by Djam Karet - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3dvWmn9i0I

Damnation album by Opeth is one of my all time favourites.

And of course, anything by Tool.

Some ancient suggestions:

Quatermass - Quatermass (1970)

Genesis - Selling England By The Pound (1973)

Emerson, Lake, and Palmer - Brain Salad Surgery (1973)

Arzachel - Arzachel (1969) (this might still be leaning more towards psych rock but I'll throw it in anyway)

These albums by Genesis and ELP are amazing! But I've never heard about Arzachel and Quatermass. I'll definitely check them out!

I used to be a prog-head

And I keep on fighting for the things I want
Though I know that when you're dead you can't
But I'd rather be a free man in my grave
Than living as a puppet or a slave

The Mars Volta is a band that a few of my friends in high school were into, but I didn't get it at the time. Better late than never!

Pretentious French proverb.

Since I met Porcupine Tree and mostly Steven Wilson's solo works, I can't leave them out of my mp3 lists. They are freaking amazing!

Yeah I've seen Steven Wilson live twice this year, kind of sad I couldn't see Porcupine Tree though, I'd like to hear more Porcupine Tree tracks live as well.

Trying not to spam tons of their tracks at once, so will gradually post tons of tracks

OK I kind of failed (I was going to post more. This isn't even my final form.)

I really like the live performance of this song:

I envy you. I wish I could have seen him live. I hope Porcupine get back together as soon as possible. About posting tons of tracks I would not mind. Tons of progressive rock is never enough for me. I AM always wanting more. Lol
