Non-metal music for metal fans

So, I know many people here listen to metal. I also know many people that listen to metal like plenty of stuff that isn't heavy, or not *as* heavy, but it's often very specific stuff. For me it is, at least.

So, post a recommendation or two.

Here's one of my favorites. BEAUTIFUL music by a French guy named Fursy Teyssier. He makes great album artwork, too.

edit: ugh...can't get youtube to work properly. putting a link instead

Coming from Alexisonfire, Dallas Green's solo side project has always had a spot on my playlist. It's so far from my normal music, but it boggles me how much I love his stuff. I guess I can relate to a lot of the lyrics he writes as well.

As well, a local artist from Toronto, Ko. His album "Let's Blaze" has gotten a crazy amount of plays from me. He's got a good mix of genres I feel. Kinda folky rock with a bit of hip hop thrown in. "This Life" has been a special song for me for some recent hard times.

Lastly, Classified. White Canadian rapper from the Maritimes. He does amazing stuff in my opinion.

And wow, I just realized all three of these people are Canadian. **** yeah.

How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could handle going outside without panicking?

Yeah sounds pretty cool. Still sounds pretty heavy to me though very cool album artwork... reminds me a little of tim burton. I grew up with Metal so its always closest to my heart but I listen to most types of music. Studied jazz & classical theory for a while. One of my fav styles outside of metal is flamenco. Seriously awesome skills with insane amount of passion and they dont need plectrums or distortion like the metal whimps (just kidding!!!) Awesome hair styles & fashion are an added bonus!!

Paco De Lucia was pretty innovative with mixing styles.... a bit of a shredder!

Paco Pena ... more of traditional style

So what you're looking for is 'light' metal?

I just wish my life could be as strange as a conspiracy
I hold out but there's no way of being what I want to be
Dragons blow fire angels fly spirits wither in the air
I'm just me I can't deny I'm neither here, there nor anywhere

This is definitely not metal but it's what I got in after listening to metal basically all my life, the scene is a bit different but I love that in America people mosh to t as well instead of just the normal rave dancing like shuffling / hakken in Australia, check it out

I like some hip-hop. Usually the fans of the two cant co-exist, which is shame. I find it has a lot in common with metal.
