Explosions in the Sky

I've seen that I have a lot in common with the members on this forum and I think most of you would enjoy this group. There's just something about the atmosphere their music makes that I enjoy nonstop. There are no lyrics, it's all instrumental.

Here is their most famous song

Yeah, I love that song. Like a lot of people I was introduced to them through Friday Night Lights. They make great songs to just quietly listen to by yourself. Listening to their songs is an experience.

"They make it look so easy, connecting with another human being. Itís like no one told them itís the hardest thing in the world."

Same here. I tried to get into Explosions a few times, but I just found them kinda boring and sappy. I much prefer Godspeed You! Black Emperor (who I saw in a big cathedral! earlier this year) and Mono.

I love Explosions in the Sky. A Song For Our Fathers is an excellent song as well. They are a really cool and kind of trippy band, that's for sure. They actually did the entire score for the Friday Night Lights movie (there were other songs in there but all the original and instrumental stuff was done by them).

I haven't listened to much 65daysofstatic, but I do like their song "Retreat! Retreat!". I also got into them from watching the movie Friday Night Lights. They also have a lot of music in the TV show as well.

I love Explosions in the Sky! My second favorite band next to Sigur Ros.

My favorite song is "A Slow Dance".

I'm really big on the post-rock and post-metal genres (I lean more towards post-metal than post-rock though) and I'm also a EITS fan, so I approve of this thread.

65 is top 3 bands I love. Good choice on your behalf

Still love Come to Me. Songs just ace.

Just let your dreams be your pilot, your imagination your fuel. Tear up the book and write your own damn rules. Use all that heart, hope and soul that you've got, and the love and the rage that you feel in your gut,

Hello again, to all my friends, together we can play some rock 'n' roll

Quality band. Always listen to them before I paint.

Heard a rumour from ground control.

I found another song not too long ago. I think it is geared in the direction of most people on this forum, hence the name.

I have to agree. Explosions isn't that great of a live band.

But you are lucky to see Godspeed. I been dying to see them but they always sell-out.

From the land of the midnight sun
where ice blue roses grow
'long those roads of gold and silver snow
Howlin' wide or moanin low
So many roads I know
So many roads to ease my soul

I'm glad there are people on here that like this kind of music. No one I know likes post-rock :/ People always seem to want lyrics, but I think it would kill the music.

I had to JUMP on getting tickets to that. And even then I only lucked out because they wound up selling a second display of tickets later on. That being said, I saw them twice more that same week (they played that week every single day from Monday to Friday when they were in NYC).

Also, right about now is like the perfect time of year to put on Godspeed. December can be such a nice month.

I used to have three of their albums. Don't have them anymore, though...they were downloaded, and my computer crashed.

That's really cool! I wish more bands would do that. It sucks to only have one night and it sells out in minutes and in order to go, you have to buy a ticket from one of the scalpers at double the price. F that.

Ever heard of Do Make Say Think?

I really, really dig their album and song titles. So deep and profound. Then I go listen to Mogwai.

blessed are they who bash your children's heads against a (punk) rock
