Oh a whole bunch. I grew up in the 80s and I generally prefer slow songs (Most fast songs make me feel agitated and anxious and just generally repel me). So I tended to like slow songs with soothing melodies and didn't really care what the lyrics were. Many of them have lyrics I can't even relate to now that I look back and actually read the lyrics as I'm listening.

Like many love songs from that era were about super amazing relationships that went sour and painful breakups and so forth and I never had much of that going on and pretty much never related to them on that level at all. To me it was all about the mood of the music and the voices. Hardly any of the songs I've ever liked were because of lyrics or meaning.

And now that I'm much older and actually realize that I have always had stress and anxiety issues, I realize that soothing music is one of the few things that will calm me down, relax me and let me clear my head.

This song, for example. I just like the sound of it. I never even paid any attention to the lyrics and just realized like a couple of years ago that there was pretty much nothing in this song I could relate to as far as the meaning. It just sounds good.

(But actually wouldn't be all that embarrassing if I did like it for that reason. I'm just embarrassed by it because I used to listen to it a lot and people knew it and probably wondered what the hell I was thinking.

Like this song sounded amazing on the radio back in the day.

That was another song I used to like before I heard someone talking about the lyrics being creepy and I actually listened to them and realized what I'd been listening to.

DESPACITO!

Never could learn to hold you, love,

Perhaps the most awkward piece of "music" ever written.

But I always liked the concept.

I'm a little embarrassed by my fanatical love for Pink Floyd. Not that anyone should ever be ashamed of liking Pink Floyd (nothing wrong with that). Just that whenever someone asks me who my favorite band is, that's all I've got. It reveals my extremely limited capacity to appreciate different types of music. Especially when the person I'm talking to says something like "Oh yeah. Floyd is great" and then they name 30 other bands I've either never heard of or never cared for who remind them of Floyd. Pretty much have to end the conversation right there.

That was also probably a pretty big factor in my never having that many friends. I just never had much interest in things a lot of other people are into.

I still like this whole band I was listening to when I was 14

Sometimes I listen to Avril Lavigne who I was listening to at approximately the same age and earlier

And sometimes I even listen to Tokio Hotel's old (!) songs in German (!). These things are crucial cause that's what they were like when I was their fan at 13. I have such a nostalgia because nothing else was going on in my life at that time (and ever tbh). I even used to copy some elements of the singer's style and the reason I was into them was not only music. It was the whole ''package'' I was into this dude just like millions/thousands of other fans.
