Oh a whole bunch. I grew up in the 80s and I generally prefer slow songs (Most fast songs make me feel agitated and anxious and just generally repel me). So I tended to like slow songs with soothing melodies and didn't really care what the lyrics were. Many of them have lyrics I can't even relate to now that I look back and actually read the lyrics as I'm listening.
Like many love songs from that era were about super amazing relationships that went sour and painful breakups and so forth and I never had much of that going on and pretty much never related to them on that level at all. To me it was all about the mood of the music and the voices. Hardly any of the songs I've ever liked were because of lyrics or meaning.
And now that I'm much older and actually realize that I have always had stress and anxiety issues, I realize that soothing music is one of the few things that will calm me down, relax me and let me clear my head.
