Social anxiety in college

Hi I’ve just found this website and I’m looking for some advice and support. I’ve just started college and I’ve went in with no friends seeing as all my best friends went to a different college. I’ve been attending my classes for a week now and I am happy to say that I am speaking to the people around me more often then I thought I would, but the problem is that I don’t know if I consider them to be my ‘friend’. I speak to these people in my classes and work with them but as soon as I leave class we don’t speak. I’m struggling to find people to hang out with on my breaks so recently I’ve just been clinging to anyone I can find who I know from secondary school.
I’m also finding it hard to speak in class especially when presenting my ideas to the group and taking to teachers.
I don’t feel comfortable talking to anyone about my social anxiety so I would really appreciate some online advice on what I should do to make friends and be approachable, and to build my social confidence

sounds like you're doing ok talking to people. keep it up

idk if there are any events you can go to. adding ppl to facebook and asking them what they are interested in doing, making a group chat seem to be good ways to become friends, especially based around some activity you like.

At least talking with someone is already a sign that you do step forward...

Even shy people can be sassy sometimes...
I'll put drunk raccoon in my signature as well, because I CAN...

I think you should relax and all will be good. Don't think so much about this. I also had such problems in college, because of this, I even had difficulties with my study. Thanks for this service helped a lot in last semester..

hey you got to remember alot of your fellow students will have anxiety to some degreee. Social anxiety i read is the No.1 problem students have when adapting to college life. Imo i would say alot of your fellow students feel uneasy.
