Of course you should mock something as dangerous and disgusting as religion.

Each to their own, if it makes someone have more faith than they initially did have lets say. Let them believe what they want.

I really, really do. Religion should have to compete in the culture's marketplace of ideas along with everything else, and if it can't stand up to mockery, that's its own problem. I think religion tends to be hypersensitive to mockery because it knows deep down how ridiculous it is. Mockery always hurts the most when it seems to confirm your worst beliefs about yourself. If you need to blow something up because I drew a cartoon of your prophet, for example, then I know I've hit a nerve.

I do think we have to be careful that mockery of religious ideas doesn't become a racist attack on a group of people, especially if they're a vulnerable minority. If you only mock a specific religion to the exclusion of others there might be a problem.

No. We should respect other people's beliefs. Mocking will not achieve anything.

“The world is indeed full of peril and in it there are many dark places.
But still there is much that is fair. And though in all lands, love is now
mingled with grief, it still grows, perhaps, the greater.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings
