Dexedrine (dextroamphetamine)

Works okay-ish at reducing anxiety, at least that which is associated with arousal disorders (narcolepsy and ADHD) at the equivalent of 30mg per day, however I suspect I'd need closer to the max dose of 60mg for maximum therapeutic benefits. What works best for me is the combination of long acting Vyvanse for background stimulation, with low doses of Dexedrine IR spread throughout the day to bring blood levels up to the right spikes. Once it wears off at night I'm back to my impulsive, less emotionally controlled self which I'd attribute to ADHD and sleep deficits from narcolepsy. It's like my prefrontal cortex takes a dive. So if my dose gets increased I'd be looking to push therapeutic effects right up until bedtime. Negative side effects are mostly limited to reduced appetite once adjusted, so best augmented with protein shakes/snacks.

Dextroamphetamine dosages high end

Hi ,

Curious as to what people might have found them self when pushing up the Dextroamphetamine 5MG IR tablets ( as in Australia ) .
I have read a bit into LD and its a bit subjective. Plus how much have people taken as a single dose.

Fixes anxiety for 1 hour then turns foul, anxiogenic and increases anxiety for the next 12 hours after that.

My first go around with dexedrine was not to positive because of it worsening my insomnia. But that was several years ago. Today I currently take dexerine instant release @ 15 mg twice a day. I found the spansules made my insomnia worse so I told my doctor to put me on the instant release tablets. It has literally saved my life. I have very little anxiety while taking it and it has really helped me focus, it prevents procrastination, and most it has drastically reduced my OCD obsessions.

Conventional medical literature and practice dictates refraining from prescribing dexedrine to agitated or anxious patients because they think it will amplify anxiety. However, nothing could be farther from the truth with me. I wasted a lot of ****ing years taking ****ty drugs until I discovered dexedrine. I should mention that dexedrine can intensify insomnia if one suffers from that. But I have had insomnia all my life and I take other bedtime drugs for sleep.

I think if a patient is depressed and they have tried a couple SRRI's and a couple tricyclics and maybe something like mirtazapine or trazodone and they find no relief from those meds, then doctors should definitely prescribe amphetamines. But you need a smart doctor. For example, amphetamines can cause insomnia so it is critical that your doctor is on the ball and willing to prescribe something for sleep.

And wet she rose from the lake, and fast and fleet went she
One half the form of a maiden fair with a jet black mare's body

And loud, long and shrill he blew til his steed was by his side
High overhead the grey hawk flew and swiftly did he ride
Saying "Course well, my brindled hound, and fetch me the jet black mare
Stoop and strike, my good grey hawk, and bring me the maiden fair"

Not in my case. Not everybody reacts the same way to medications. I don't have to take memantine.
