Is getting Vista for free supposed to be an incentive?

Yep, it's worth it. You're getting the full retail version of Vista, not the OEM version.

Seriously, I have it now (dell automatically put it on my laptop) and it has given me more headaches than joy. I have already seen a blue screen and I just got it at the end of Sept

Okay, this promotion is no longer valid...they received too many requests and exhausted their gift supply.

Good point MouseWithoutKeyboard...I wish I knew more computer facts like that because i depend on one so much. I would really love a Mac someday...but I guess I have to make money first! That's why I got the dell in the first place--they were practically giving it away with a special promotion, so I probably shouldn't complain so much.

Vista for free? After having worked with Vista, I'd have to consider that overpaying...

Yeah, my dad bought a new computer a few weeks ago, and the first thing I did was format the hard drive and put Windows XP Professional on it.

Re: Free Windows Vista

Vista has worked just fine on my laptop. I haven't noticed that big of a difference between vista and XP. Then again, I'm not much a of a computer whiz and I've given up for the most part on PC gaming, so I won't be tinkering with it much, if at all.

Vista works fine for me. I got quad processor and 4GBs of memory so I dont care how much Vista hogs, my PC will never slow down.

Re: Free Windows Vista

In 32-bit, you can only address up to 3.5gigs (less depending on your motherboard)....also a program can only have access to 2 gigs of RAM, anymore and it will start paging to the harddrive.
