I've been reading Anxious, by Joseph LeDoux, an authority on the subject. It's a pretty interesting look at the neuroscience of threat processing and how it contributes to conscious states like fear and anxiety. It's a science-y book, not a self-help book (lots of descriptions of tests conducted on lab rats, terminological discussions, etc.) but some people here (like
) might find it useful and interesting. (About a third of the way through it.)
