I don't think that SA ever really goes away for us. I think that it's sort of who we are, it's genetically part of us. But I DO think that we can take measures to lessen it's negative impact on our lives. We can learn to take control of it instead of IT being in control of US.
For me it comes in waves, sometimes I'm crippled by it (like my highschool years), and other times I cope with it fine. Late last year I couldn't get out of the house because it would mean I had to encounter other humans, but after some therapy and meds, I am feeling better about going out now.
