Social Anxiety Background
I've had SA since I was a child
Other Treatments
This is a list of other aminoacids I've tried: 5-HTP: This was the first one, I've been taking it for a year or so. It has helped my depression a lot, but nowadays I don't use it anymore, because it makes me apathetic, i just want to stay at home, desire declines, etc... L-Tirosine: This is what I call the motivation aminoacid. This one actually has some anti-anxiety properties, makes you mentally calm and focused, but don't overuse it because it might make you angry and jumpy. Glutamine: Interesting, but too activating for me. I ordered it because I heard it is the precursor of GABA. Well, that is true, but it is also a precursor for the exciting neurotransmitter glutamate. GABA: Did nothing for me.
Treatment Experience
I've tried other aminoacids and this is what works best for me. When you take taurine you experience a sense of calm while still having desire to do things (unlike with 5-HTP). You even get a moderate energy boost.

Taurine has A LOT of functions in the body besides being a neurotransmitter. It is found in high concentration in the heart for example, where it stabilizes electrical activity.

I've tried various brands, and the most effective BY FAR is Now Foods.
