All while I have no problem with negligent discharges despite a 4.5# trigger on my Glock. OMG, I'm willing to carry such a gun with no safeties at all and still I don't fear suffering Glock Leg as inept cops who don't spend nearly enough time at the range would suffer if not for a ridiculously heavy trigger that makes accurate fire all but impossible, and with "professionally trained expert" cops missing most of their shorts.:roll

Sorry for the great abundance of posts, but that 1,000 character limit is a real PITA when discussing a subject that you're passionate about. I get to hear from my brother how I'm responsible for Scott Walker (who's been elected 3 times to 2 terms!), in part because the pro-gun community doesn't enjoy taking it up the a** from a Dem who think 2A isn't at all important. For example, the ACLU who think the Bill of Rights only contains 9 Amendments, entirely ignoring 2A which is the ultimate defense for all the other rights for which they fight.

They'd surely hate my Springfield Competition .45 which I sent back to their custom shop for a competition trigger that provides for a 3.5# trigger with a very short trigger pull and very short reset for rapid fire -- which is most accurate with my Burris Fast Fire that allows for most rapid & accurate target acucisition. All with an a ample capacity of 14 rounds. And OMG, it's doesn't even have a manual safety! And no Hillary Hole either to "protect" me! All while the NYPD is so inept that they require an 11# trigger because they can't keep their booger hook off the damn trigger of their Glock!

The anti-gunners, which are most abundant on SAS, can't stand the idea that I own a dozen firearms (mostly handguns), and they hate that I have an extended magazine for both my Beretta 92A1 & Glock 34. They're appalled that I have openly carried my Glock on my belt, ready to fire 18 rounds of 9mm. They have that my Beretta is kept loaded with 31 rounds and can put a bright green dot on a bad guy so he can see where a whole lot of 9mm HPs will put holes in him if he's less than fully cooperative. I'm sure they also hate my Dan Wesson Specialist that I keep cocked & locked reading to put 9 .45 caliber holes in anyone who decides to invade my castle.

They have no idea what a Hillary Hole is, though this "safety" device that could kill you if it fails (as mechanical devices are prone to do) is deemed an abomination by us. No military or police force on Earth would accept a gun with such a "safety" device.

It is wonderfully refreshing to see someone so young who has such wisdom. So many on SAS are utterly clueless about guns. They will say ridiculous crap like "we need gun control." Uh, do they not understand that we already have a stunning amount of gun control? They'd be entirely unable to explain what the National Firearms Act of 1934 says nor could they tell me what the Gun Control Act of 1968 says.

I can't stand be told we need gun control by clueless folks who have no idea what the great abundance of gun laws already say. They can't even explain what are probably the two most substantial pieces of gun control legislation of the 20th century.

They couldn't explain, for example, how the short-barrel shotgun I'd like to get for home defense (and other reasons) is defined as a "destructive device" under the NFA nor how I have to pay a $200 tribute to the BATFE (which I despise more than anything, save the DEA).

It's nice to see another pro-gun individual on SAS. They're spotted around here about as often as Big Foot -- virtually never.

That's a shame. Maybe just wait until you can afford a new one then.

Ah, don't worry about it man. Just sit back and laugh at how silly they are making themselves look. Lawyer huh? Impressive career choice..

Well it's 4AM here and I should have been in bed ages ago lol. Talk soon..

I didn't realise the 9mm was that much more potent than the .380?

$650 brand new I'm assuming? All the pistols I've bought have been used, although if I end up buying a 4" 686 that will definitely be a new one.

I think you're right. I should just ignore them as most are too dumb to even argue with.

Never had any experience with the 80 Series Berettas. Are they much more reliable than their successors? imfdb is a cool site by the way..

What's the Buckmark worth over in the US?

Another shooting buddy of mine has a 92FS, which as you probably know, is the civilian version of the M9. Fun gun to shoot but fairly inaccurate. The barrel wobbles.
I know defense pistols don't need to have the same level of accuracy as target pistols, but damn..

That military spec 1911 is real nice to look at and would blend in well in the desert.

I'm glad your brother gets to use your P22 and you didn't need to get rid of it altogether. I'm not too familiar with H&R's .22 revolvers but I daresay you would have more luck with them. The Browning Buckmark offers superior accuracy compared to the P22. The fact the frame is metal instead of polymer probably has something to do with it. A guy at my pistol club has one and he shoots better than other members with top of the line target pistols..

Yeah I heard Colt just filled a massive order for the Military, who are obviously interested in just the standard model, not the Gold Cup.

The P22 is a lot of fun to shoot and it's a shame you couldn't use yours that well. They really are a bit too small and light. I can imagine how appalling their accuracy would be with the shorter barrel. Definitely a case of 'spray and pray'

Did the magazines for your P22 have the extended grip on them?

The trigger on my 686 is fairly light in single-action mode but not as light as yours by the sounds of it. When I purchased it, the gun shop said it had some trigger work done to it. I think all they did was wind back the hammer spring to make it nice and light..

Yeah, my friend had to wait months until his arrived.

My P22 also has the barrel extension and weight, for legal reasons. Here in Australia, semi-auto's must have a barrel length of at least 120mm (roughly 4.8")
This is to prevent pistols being too concealable but the P22 is still easily concealable with the longer barrel. Ridiculous rule. Mind you, this only applies to target shooting. Armed security guards are allowed to have compact pistols and snubnosed revolvers.

My P22 fits into my hands nicely because they are small and girly :/
I was considering buying a laser or red dot sight for it just for a bit of fun.
I find the P22 fairly inaccuarte at any distance over say 10 metres because of its extremely light weight.

I'm not as familiar with Smith and Wesson's autos as I am their revolvers, so I had to look those models up. The 4506 is certainly a nice looking pistol and I can see why you would want to hold onto it. From reading it's Wikipedia article, I see it also accepts .45 Super with the replacement of some springs. I didn't realise there was such a round as .45 Super, only .38 Super. Interesting..

The only autos I own at the moment are .22s. One's a Walther P22 which I just use for plinking but the other is a Unique Des 69, which is a fully adjustable match grade pistol made by the French in the late 60s. For such an old gun, it still outshoots me.

I plan on buying centrefire autos in the future. I would like a 9 mm and a .45. A buddy of mine recently purchased a Colt 1911 Gold Cup. Beautiful pistol to shoot, however I don't have a spare $2K laying around. When the times comes I would probably opt for a Remington R1.

Have you ever had the chance to compare your 4506 to a 1911 of any brand?

Ah nice. Mine is just a standard 6 shooter with 6 inch barrel. I plan on buying a second one with 4 inch barrel for Service Match.

    Do you have a S&W semi-auto?
