Default Woohoo approached a girl today!

Well it kinda just 'happened.' I was at work, and as I left the mens bathroom a pretty cute girl who works where I work came walking out of the ladies bathroom at the same time as me and we found ourselves walking awkwardly in the same direction at the same time at the same speed.

I couldn't just say nothing or else it would've gotten weird, so I looked at her and said "are those bathrooms disgusting or what?" and she laughed and said "yeah we need better maintenance people." So I said "well either that or people need to practice aiming into the toilet better" and that made her burst out into laughter I felt good. So I told her don't work too hard and went back to my department.

Later on I saw her in the break room. I made eye contact with her, and she looked back so I said hi. So I went to the table where she was sitting and pulled out a chair and sat and said "so, can I ask you a question?" I asked "is it just me, or does it seem like (manager's name) has no idea what he's doing half of the time?" And she replied "Yes!" and we started sharing stories about this particular manager.

I told her a story about our company and she seemed surprised by it, so I said "there's even a video on youtube about it. I can send it to you if you want..." Then I went on to ask her if she had a facebook page, so I pulled out my sharpie and a piece of paper and wrote down my full name. I told her just look me up on facebook and I'll send you the video. When I got home today I opened facebook and had a friend request from her!

I can't believe how smooth it went. It was just several weeks ago I cowered in fear at the thought of approaching this other girl from my job that I liked, and today I just put my neck out there and hoped for the best. I feel like a million bucks. Take that SA!

Thanks and thanks!

Yeah, 2 out of 3 times I can come up with a joke like that off the top of my head. It's that 1 out of 3 times that I can't come up with something, then I just say "oh really?" or nervously laugh. Then I dwell on it and beat myself up over it. Part of my problem is I try too hard to make people like me, which is why I come up with sarcastic jokes and remarks like that. I need to realize that not everybody is going to like me and I can't make everyone laugh. I just need to learn how to casually socialize with people. But lately I've been doing good.

ALSO... I forgot to mention. At one point she said "I can't believe you're talking, you're normally so quiet!" so I jokingly replied with "Well it's friday, I'm in a good mood." I haaaaate when people say that, but I answered the call quite well I think.

Yes indeed. Can't put a price tag on that feeling. When you can make a pretty girl smile your confidence goes through the roof.

Oh you handled that very well. That would have ended it for me, that really ticks me off to no end when people say that. Nicely done man

Absolutely nailed it there. I could not have come up with something like that.

This is something I've always struggled with myself but I think I may have found a trick that works. The idea is to "say what's on your mind", but my problem is my mind usually goes blank in these situations. So I say to myself "say what was on my mind right before this situation happened" and I find it works. When I was in the bathroom a minute prior I really was thinking about how disgusting it was and how people need to improve their toilet aim. When I saw her I just looked back to a minute ago and sort of pulled it out of a rolodex I guess you can say

The more you practice it the easier it gets. And as for her telling me I was so quiet, I always think about how to respond to this question, all the time. So when somebody says it I can pull a response right out of the holster instead of fumbling and acting foolish.

Sweet, way to go! Isn't it weird how easy it really is once you get it in your head and just do it? If you keep it up hopefully you'll can some comfort from it. GJ!

Sure is. I think what helped was the fact that we just sort of bumped into each other. It's not like I was planning to walk up to her for several minutes and allowing fear to build its momentum in my head.
