Default I've Done more this evening than I've done this entire month.

Well that's what is feels like anyway progress wise. I attended the anime society at my university (geeky I know ) and although I was bricking myself before entering the room - it took me a couple of minutes to actually build up the courage to enter, I actually overcame it for once and enjoyed myself. After some akward moments initially conversation wise, I managed to have some quite good small talk with a few people. I even managed to have a long conversation with quite a cute girl there too - which for me is unheard of. The cuter the girl, the worse my anxiety. I'm really pleased that I managed to maintain eye contact alot during this as well.

Straight away afterwards, a friend that I know from back home invited me to a random movie night at his flat. He had a friend of his own there, but thankfully 2 people, dark room, one of which I know very well meant my anxiety was minimal. I was able to crack some jokes and really enjoy myself there as well.

All in all, a great evening, I haven't felt this happy in ages to be honest. If you guys get an opportunity to socialise, please take it no matter how many doubts you have. I was really debating with myself whether to even bother this evening, but I'm glad I did in the end. This quote that I read recently sums it up:
'If you don't play the game; you can't lose, but you also can't win.'

Thank you for reading.

Very nice. I find this post inspirational. I recently did something similar to this (minus the cute girl part, so more power to you lol) by going to the "Taste of Japan" event held by a university club. I was eating by myself, but a couple guys sat in front of me at the same table, and I managed to start the conversation myself. It's easy, really. The only bad part of it is thinking about having the conversation before actually having it.

First, congrats! Sounded like an awesome night. And y'know, so maybe anime is geeky. Who cares? It's something you enjoy and in the end, it's all that matters. Geeks are awesome - because they're passionate about things. Better than the alternative.

Reminds me of Wayne Gretzky: "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take."

Awesome. I actually went to the anime society when i was Uni for a bit.. yeah, geeky lol. Was pretty cool even if most people there voted to watch ridiculously bad series... they showed some horrible dubbed rubbish instead of Death Note ffs lol.

Kinda wish i was still at Uni, i think i'd try to join more societies etc... not really sure where to go to find groups that do stuff like that now.

Anyway, glad it went well
