So ... i've been fiddling on my guitar again. This time it was Muse 'Invincible' and its like .. a door in my mind opened .. Let me see hwo i can put this. The solo is played on stage by tapping the fret board .. using an octave pedal to make the sound high pitched. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikFdtp5WWBM Since all i got is an acoustic, the first thing i did, was play the solo along the high frets. But my guitar got only 19 frets, then my mind did a hop-scotch and i found the really high notes by playing harmonics ( picking onto the fretboard above my fretting hand). After 2 weeks of doing this and building up speed, today I tried playing the solo exactly as in the video above (i.e. finger tapping) .. and to my surprise, my fingers actually responded in time. The only drawback though is, when i play it that way, the notes are an octave lower -because its only acoustic and i don't have an octavel-pedal. My hands hurt but I feel like king ! I know the chords of the song, and in my mind i could see that the solo follows the verse riff, so I never watched tabs to learn the solo. Now all i need is a software with splitscreen so i can record myself playing the solo both ways. How awesome would that be !! ??? |
